Seemed like a lovely genuine guy as well as being a world class sportsman and authentic football fan. Fiercely proud of his home city, which he represented with distinction, whilst also being well loved across the country. RIP.
A one year extension, so he’s contracted for 3 more years from now. (Release clause was also removed). Got to be a very good chance he leaves next summer.
We’re meant to be evolving our style this year to be more possession based. We were a one trick pony last season and eventually got found out. The signings we’re trying to make and our pre season games seem to be reflecting that we’ll be changing. We’ll see…
Yeah the price dropping, if true, is strange. Forest have some massive sell-on clauses especially with Hudson-Odoi, so either that or a buy-back is likely.
My guess is Forest wouldn’t go ahead with a buy back clause unless at a very high value. Strategy seems to be to sell 2 big players in every 3 year period and the sums would have to work.
Loads of our players seem to have sell-ons though.
I do think we’ll come back with another bid -...
Seems like Forest don’t need to sell for PSR having made a profit last financial year, and no big signings this financial year. I’m sure Marinakis would consider selling for £80m—£90m, but unlikely the club is actively looking to sell.
Might just be a case of he’s worth more to us than he is...
It’ll be interesting to see if Forest’s and City’s interests align here. From our POV
- if he stays, great
- if we get £80m+, fine - it’ll be exciting to see how we spend the money
- any less than £80m - no thanks
Marinakis rarely sells low, so it’s very possible Forest price him too high...
