Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Ancient Citizen To answer your question yes they have Yesterday. The French President said there will be no sports till September at the earliest.

purplenose There is no rash decision to make here. With 3 leagues already called off, how hard is it to call this season null and void. Just go ahead and do it. Italy looks like it will become the next country to declare their season null and void. With their Prime Minster ready to call all team sports off until September at the earliest.

Face masks and disinfected footballs among rules for Premier League return
Players also face two privately-sourced tests per week, according to reports

Premier League players will wear face masks and all footballs will be disinfected by staff in personal protective equipment under strict rules designed to allow squads to resume group training during the coronavirus crisis.

A seven-page document drawn up by
Premier League director of football Richard Garlick has laid out the protocols that would need to be followed at training grounds ahead of football’s planned restart.

The plans, which will be discussed at a meeting of clubs on Friday, will also require players and staff to pass a Covid-19 Antigen Test in the 48 hours before returning to group training.

The rules include:

  • All footballs, GPS units, cones, corner flags, goalposts and other equipment to be disinfected before and after use by staff wearing PPE
  • Players encouraged to wear a snood or mask at all times
  • Cars to be parked three spaces apart
  • No massages unless approved by club doctor
  • Fluids to be left at designated pick-up points
  • Only visit training block to use toilet
  • Initially only five players per training group
  • Players to be given designated time slots and 15 minutes to prepare
  • 75 minutes of small group training
  • 15 minutes recovery
  • Players and staff will be banned from spitting at the training ground
The document states: “This protocol will require the consent of all stakeholders and the agreement of Clubs....

Are we the only team that can catch them, if so I’m surprised the PL haven’t suggested we just play until we lose a couple, scouse players all wrapped up and protected in air tight tracksuits and win by default.
