Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

from the BBC "Premier League bosses had let it be known just how important it was that the season be completed, pointing to the three-quarters of a billion pounds that contractually would have to be paid back to live TV rights-holders Sky and BT."
There have been alternatives suggested to overcome that, such as allowing rights-holders to broadcast more live matches for the next season or two as recompense.

pity Blanchard's beloved Klanfield wasn't volunteered to help in the crisis

With France crowning PSG champions and finishing the season where it's at there's the excuse the FA need and want and can breathe a sigh of relief.

It’ll be interesting to see what legal action is taken by 2nd place and anyone else who can still mathematically win the league. I’d rather the scousers were handed the league than the league resumed. That way it will always be tarnished. Champions*

Marseille only 12 behind with 10 games to go.

As far as I'm concerned, football is entertainment. With that said,

are film studios drawing up contracts to force actors and directors back into making films? No.
Are theatres putting shows on despite social distancing being required? No.

Football is for fans, and is nothing without them (apologies for the cliche).
If football comes back before it is deemed safe for ALL match-going fans to attend, then I'm fucking done with the whole thing. It will have truly disappeared up its own arse.

My 'Les Mis' and ‘Phantom' shows cancelled to next year at the earliest, why is football any different? money money money, greed and scousers

I think they were calling the elderly blues to check if they were ok, nice touch.
But I dont think general ST holders have had a call.
I'm not trying to slate the club, just getting a bit desperate and can't imagine anyone will be going to the Etihad in the foreseeable future.

I , being of the older set, did receive a call from a very pleasant chap and hats off to City for doing that- it would be worth keeping everyone in the link tho not just us oldies imo!- Void the season and sign the petition EVERYONE!! Noone has won anything except us -T

The only games that should be played are a play off for the various title , promotion and relegation issues , as we are the only team who can stop the Dippers there should be a play off between ourselves and the Dippers played at a neutral venue behind closed doors , with no feral supporters to sway the referee , we can play the Dippers with a referee who will give the correct decisions. Which will mean we will batter them , the only time the Dippers beat us is when they get at least half a dozen game changing decisions and its happened for donkeys years

The Dippers cannot beat us fair and square the only time i can remember we got a decent decision was when Mane tried to decapitate Ederson , which was a 100% correct decision , and we all know what happened there , they were lucky to get away with a 5-0 defeat , IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TEN.
