In the normal scheme of things, that wouldn't be an issue at all. Debt isn't inherently a bad thing. In fact, in the right hands, it can be a great facilitator. Especially since Spurs have restructured the debt into low interest bonds with a variety of different maturity dates (on average, 23 years).

Under normal conditions, the extra revenue generated by the new stadium would comfortably cover repayment and interest charges while still significantly increasing funds for player purchases and wages.

But COVID19 has put a huge spanner in the works - not just for Spurs but for every club on the planet. No telling when stadiums can be used for their intended purpose again. I reckon we're talking at least a year - and more, if there are second and third waves and if no effective vaccine can be developed.

That reminds me of the old joke from the 80s.
Charles and Di and Andy and Fergie are on safari in Kenya and they get held up by bandits who demand all their valuables.
Quickly Chas and Andy give their Rolexes to the girls and tell Di and Fergie to hide them up their fannies along with other jewellery.
The ruse works and the bandits getaway with only minimal valuables although they do pinch the royal off roader.
Charles and Andy are chuffed to fuck that they avoided having their luxury watches stolen.
Charles does suggest though that next time the 4 off them go on safari that they should take Aunty Margaret along with them.
That way he tells the others,we can hide the Range Rover as well.
