Alexander Isak | Cried his way to a £130m move

The murderers will piss the league again this season ffs
When they do 3 on the trot (and I think they well might) I await the media saying how dull it is and how it’s a farmers league!

One thing I will say though is, unlike us, they look like they’re buying players to go straight into the first team, which is, perhaps, where we’ve been going wrong recently.

The Scousers are saying Newcastle got done as they wanted £150mill for Isak
Forgetting on purpose, and ignoring the fact that Liverpool have paid £130mill for him and broken another PL transfer record.
Honestly, the spin and narrative from their lying fan base knows no bounds.

It’s without doubt where we have gone wrong over the last 2/3 years.

You don't think Ait-Nouri, Reijnders, Cherki & Donnarumma are first team players?

It’s absolutely where we’ve gone wrong. Every year you have to improve, and we’ve failed to do that. It’s a terrible policy to just sign potential instead of proven quality.

I hope Newcastle check the notes aren’t photocopied or covered in that anti-robbery ink

Correct. Between our failed 3 years in the transfer market and pep insisting he was happy with squad is comical. It’s now taken the foot off the neck of the bully and set us back years.

I think Donnarumma is.
Ait-Nouri? Never on anyone’s radar before he signed and he plays in a position we don't have a player for.
Reijnders? 27 years and old and I’ve never heard of him. Not seen him in the last 2 games (not a reasonable snapshot admittedly) but Kovacic will replace him when he’s fit.
Cherki? Hopefully, but didn’t start the first game and, with Pep, who knows.

Donnarumma certainly but we’re only signing him today! The others, not so sure - Ait-Nouri probably but he needs to improve a hell of a lot. Reijnders had one good game then disappeared pretty much; he’s quality sure but is he too technical and lightweight for the PL? Cherki, again unproven here and very young and unpredictable.

I’d honestly rather we had gone after and done what it took to get the best available in this league where possible (eg Guehi, Livramento, Guimaraes, Rice) or the very best stand out players in Europe, like Wirtz for example. We would be unbeatable again. Unfortunately that’s now the hated, murdering, gobshite scouse cunts. A lack of transfer ambition allowed that to happen.

They’ve done what the rags used to do. Buy better when you’re already on top.
In some ways, our ‘problem’ was that we were too good and there didn’t appear to be many better than what we had. Then everyone got old…

That's expanding it somewhat, isn't it.

Perhaps I should have phrased it differently?
Although I’m a rabid City fan, I like to think I can be objective as well.
When the BBC/Sky/Newspapers do their ‘combined XI’ nonsense whenever there’s a big game on, I used to regularly pick 8/9 sometimes even 10 City players. Sort of, who, in their team, would I want? Not many was the answer.

I think it’d be a struggle to get 3 in this season, when pitted against Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Yeah that I can see.

And unfortunately even those 3 would probably be on past glories rather than current form.

I disagree. But that wasn't really part of the claim I was responding to.
Bernado, Gundo and KDB. Replaced by Cherki, Reijnders and Kovacic. Plus the disaster signings for about £150m of Phillips, Nunes and Nico. A left back who can’t defend and no Walker replacement. Wonder why we’ve fallen off a cliff! The keeper might be good but we’ll still miss Ederson for that left peg.

Think people are getting a bit carried away, Liverpool are no certs to win the league this season let alone the next couple.

A pretty decent percentage of "sure thing" expensive transfers don't work out the way the buying club hopes. And that may well be the case here.

Oh yeah Liverpool bargain after robbing Newcastle of 20m
