Andy Burnham | Manchester Mayor

Agree. It's a tiresome game the media play with these questions. He can't say yes can he?

What I don't get is if he genuinely wants the top job. How does he get there from being a mayor. He'd have to resign and win a seat asan MP. He can't do that quietly without anyone noticing.

Yeah, it's a bit awkward to get there. A by-election maybe, and earlier in the week Clive Lewis got talked into admitting he'd give up his seat to let Burnham have a safe seat run. Burnham would be nearly 60 at the next GE.

I'm not sure a 13,000 majority in Norwich South is a safe seat in a by-election called just to let a northerner challenge the sitting PM.

I did wonder why they were talking about Norwich, that's where Lewis' seat is, is it?

It was just another gotcha set-up.

He's always been a prick. His stumbling and hesitant verbals betray the incoherancy of his thought processing. His inadequacy as a weak challenger was one of the keys to Corbyn's successful leadership. Burnham was on a par with the other candidates - Liz Kendall and Yvette Cooper. They share the same hesitancy in their speech. To me, it's arguable whether he would be a stronger leader than either of those two today. Personally, imho, they are all STILL just as weak as each other, and the prospect of any of them succeeding Starmer and becoming P.M. fills me with horror - as much as I dislike Starmer, I fear that Burnham would just roll out the red carpet for Farrage or one of his oiks to take us on a racist Trumpian ride to dystopia.
A Burnham leadership coup would guarantee Farage as PM, Labour under Starmer is the only chance of stopping that crew.

Andy Burnham isn't plotting a coup. He's facing questions about a leadership challenge from the media and he's dammed with whatever reply he gives.

He's not an MP. He can't.

It's a ridiculous suggestion.

Calling for a UK and Europe wide strategy is Brexit backer Worzel…
In other not surprising news, the article continually refers to him as Sir Jim, for some inexplicable reason.
Talking of Brexit-backers, it seems 'Spoons supremo Tim Martin is expanding into Europe!
Hypocritical doesn't even begin to describe this fella: The Brexiteers' Arms
