Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

TNT coverage was so biased . And that referee. .....Is he Trossard's uncle ? Takes a United fan on You Tube to call it out and give credit where credit's due to The Two Nicos. The absolute state of things ...

Even if she went on ti give him praise, I turned it off after 30seconds when she said Nico had been labelled a panic buy and a flop…

I’ve not seen anyone anywhere say Nico was a panic buy and a flop. He got MOTM in his very first game for us, after which he started 8 of our next 9 PL games and he played well in all but the Liverpool away defeat.

I think he was one of the main reasons we settled down as a team in the second half of last season after that shit run in November and December.

He’s made the saying ‘it takes a year to settle in under Pep at City’ look like a myth.

As for O'Reilly - one of those players who looks at home with each step up to a new level of competition. Played like he's been playing LB at this level all his life. Wonder if foreign journos know that this wonderful young lad is actually an attacking midfielder by trade. The entire defence were superb tonight.
I think he tends to give the winger too much space on the ball, as he did for their goal but sort that out, and we've got some player there

Great result and im still buzzing.
Maybe its the mancunian in me but i hate the entitled rich kids that expect everything , aka real madrid.

Yet another game ive watched ‘jude’ in and been left puzzled by what the fuck the hype is about him.

Savinho gave a nice little cameo and took the pressure off
Gonzales looked right at home. Looks like out of the 4 january panic buys, hes the total gem.

And imagine being Nico oreilly! 20 year old collyhurst kid, life long blue, hmgetting MOTM and scoring at the bernabau !

Come on City

Just listened to his post match interview, what an articulate, professional young man he is. He’s a credit to the Academy, and will be all the better because the MSM don’t fawn over him. There’s actually a value in being little old City!

After a shaky start we were superb and deserved the win with an excellent team performance. Three things to take away for me:

1) Nico O was superb, a "coming of age" performance in a very intimidating stadium.

2) Enjoyed the look of disappointment on the bent, twat of a ref's face at the end of the game.

3) Enjoyed even more the irony of dirty bastard Rudiger giving away the penalty for us to win the game, especially after that descpicable challenge on KDB in the Champs League Final.

In fairness, you can look on here and many people were, incorrectly, calling him a panic buy - his player section, the transfer section and match threads all had it. I know as I would often point out how nonsense it was. Definitely quiet on that front now.

I felt the same way about the lack of width of the back four, but then I realized he was only doing what he was told, which was to tuck in.

One of best things Real did all game was their switch of play to the weak side, which resulted in not only giving them the space needed to attack us, but also putting their star men one on one with our makeshift fullbacks. Then, as we shifted over, pulling in our opposite side fullback, if the one on one wasn’t successful, they brought shuffled back to the previous strong side (which was now left open) they sprung an extra man down the line into that space. We saw this at least twice in the second half, leading to good scoring opportunities.

Anyway, with the exception of the goal, for which I think Gigi was as at fault as anyone, there was not too much down the line that hurt us because of the full backs not doing their job, which is saying something against Vini & Rodrygo.

Mentioning the academy, the eds lads smashed RM 0-4 :)

What is the purpose of a comment like this? Are you suggesting we set up well? Or suggesting we aren't able to critique Peps decisions?
You can critique all you like but I reserve the right to mock some random sat on a sofa who thinks he knows more about football than Pep Guardiola. Oh and we won so I'd say he set us up perfectly.

Although the ref (Trossard ) did get several things wrong, I thought that overall he wasn't intimidated by the crowd and player (no ref should be). When he made his mistakes, and like I say he made a few, I think it was his judgement that was at fault - I don't think he was biased.

I'm not sure how you can give that many fouls (ignoring the ones on Doku that weren't given) and not issue yellow cards when they were as bad/worse than what you have given Foden a yellow for. He gave O'Reilly a yellow, then gave a foul against Rudiger for the same thing without giving a second yellow. When the inconsistency is one way, that is bias, whether intentional or affected by the crowd.

Fair point, and I agree , but she's a Rag so ...that's just what they would have said to each other in their social media bubble last season when they were falling down the table at a rate of knots and we were recovering .

At least she admits she was wrong and goes on to says Gonzalez should be getting more praise than the DM of the moment, Declan Rice . She didn't mention Mainoo ha ha

Gonzalez is still learning his trade under the best two mentors in the world at that position, Rodri and Pep . I love to watch a player stepping into big shoes and not just walking but striding out .

Tell you something I noticed in the first half last night (and second half at Fulham last week which was a breath of fresh air for a PL game!); we aren’t used to playing in fast paced games where both teams are going for it.

PL games are getting slower all the time. Teams just waste as much time as possible and they have a sit down and pretend to be injured. Rather than playing to attack progressively through passing and dribbling teams play for set pieces to move them up the pitch, and they take a minute to take each one of them. The ball has been in play 4 minutes a game less this season than just 2 seasons ago.

We’re not used to playing in fast paced games. It seems to come as a shock to us when it happens. It took us a good half an hour to get used to the pace of the game last night. Once we did, we played well, but the PL is doing us no favours at the moment. The PL needs speeding up.

I’d like to see how much time the ball was in play last night. There’s almost nothing at all I like about Madrid, but at least they don’t waste time.
