Antoine Semenyo | Considering triggering the £65m release (p13)

Here we go, the usual media leaks straight from red towers that he doesn't want City. More interested in Liverpool and United. Because who wouldn't want to snub Pep if favour of a team likely to sack their manager before you play a game for them?

How long now before he's pictured with a Giggsy 'His and Her-In law's' bedspread or an Aldo red clown nose?

Funny how it's gone from Bournemouth leaking his release fee to ensure he goes for more this January, to the hottest property in the premier league. Almost as if someone is trying to deflect from a title race and suggest winning his signature is the real prize.

As a reminder, this lad may be great and may be the next big thing, but he's not scored for two months and plays for a team with no European experience and is closer to the relegation spots than top 3. Ghana haven't picked him for AFCON, and his record for them is just 3 goals in 30+ games. Clearly he's had a leap in development recently but does that warrant bringing on a new winger, teaching him the Pep way and taking a chance on his integration? Maybe, if we think he'll contribute more than current players and we can move others on. Maybe not, if we actually have a bigger potential in mind for summer or beyond.

He's clearly a very different player to Bobb or Savinho, although apparently prefers the left anyway so that brings Doku and Marmoush into the discussion. Other teams need him more and I do think that will show, although if he wants silverware we're still by far this best choice.
Not my type of player. So im pretty relaxed

I'd prefer Ndiaye seems like more of a Pep player personally

Goals aren't as often but he creates more chances and is better in tight spaces

Always thought Semenyo struggles when hes not on a counter and playing 1 vs 1 agaisnt defender which he wont get for us

Wont say no but I dont think he starts over Doku or Cherki
Same here :)

arent a cb,dmc and a couple of full backs needed more than a guy who we have players already in his position
fullbacks? at most we need a rb for the bench. currently the 2 fullbacks are 2 of the best players in the club

i didn't realize semenyo would be homegrown, that's a big plus

is he really worth 65 million

Who is nowadays.

There is such a dearth of top elite level talent that supply and demand has caused a shake up of the market where you are seeing players of the quality that ten years ago were probably worth £50m, now worth £100m.

We have a problem. Stones, Ake, Trafford, Phillips and Bobb are all going to leave or very likely will leave.

That's 5 homegrown players we need to replace.

It's why it's looking probable we are going all in on Guehi, Semenyo and Anderson.

Im still kinda torn on this... but I think i kinda get it.

When all fit, Doku and Cherki as inverted wingers is the way to me, and I think that has worked so well with O Reilly and Nunes holding the width.

And Bobb is very similar to Cherki imo, not good at holding the width but would rather invert.

Savinho is a wide player for both sides but young and still needs time.

But what if Nunes gets injured? Cherki is immediately no longer a RW option.

So I can see Semenyo almost being a backup to if Nunes gets injured, still having width on the right. He can play both sides. He is Homegrown. He probably would accept joining a title challenging side as a backup at his age and brings physicality.

All while Marmoush and RAN (genuine attacking options) leave for a month and will test our squad depth.

At 65m it does seem so sensible?

I guess the main worry is if everything he is doing is just hot form, besides the United game he was on a poor run of form, but the entire Bournemouth team has been poor, so how much of that is the team vs just him?

I'm not saying Semenyo is a must buy or anything, or that an attacking player should be our top priority.

But considering our squad depth is so weak that even Pep, previously known for always changing 3-5 players every starting XI, now hesitate to rotate players because the quality drops significantly every time he does, I would say there is room for improvement in most areas of the squad. Our third best goalscorer so far this season is "own goal" with 3 goals, so I think another player offering a goal threat and depth could absolutely help.

Not the most pleasing on the eye, but is strong, aggressive, works hard, flexible, cheap in today’s market and is efficient in front of goal. I am in.

I think hes similar to doku, in that he has something that other wingers don't have , with Doku it's explosiveness and dribbling, Semenyo is a battering ram that is good on both feet, with a strikers finish. Watch his goals he just outmuscles defenders 1v1 and the power in his strikes keepers get no where near.

All types of finishes , arriving in the box for tap in , shooting from outside of the box , shooting from each corner after beating a fullback. He's a complete winger with a strikers finish

I watched his every move last night and, goal aside, he is an overweight lump, who also looks idle. I pray God we steer clear of this fella.

Just counting, currently we have Phil, Doku, Cheeki, Marmoush, Savio, Bobb, Tijanni. So that's 7 for 3 positions. 5 for 3 now that Marmoush is off to ANC and Doku has a niggle.

At CM we have Nico, Rodri, Berny and Kova. 4 for 2 positions. With Rodri and Kova currently injured. So 2 for 2 positions.

Hence Anderson/Wharton over Semento/Ndiaye for January.

Ghana haven’t left him out, they didn’t qualify for AFCON

Assuming Ortega and Phillips leave in January, or aren't registered, we have two spaces in the squad. A HG and a NHG slot. Or two HGs.
