To all the Blues no longer with us

Lost my dad to cancer in August last year aged 79 took me to my first match at 5yrs old and I've never looked back. My father had lived in Spain for 20yrs so had some great times over there with my wife and son , my son is now 28 and goes everywhere with City ( not so much this season as he's just got his 1st house ). Like another member has said I used to ring dad everytime as well after a game and we'd go through what had happened, at his funeral dad was dressed in a City top . Miss you dad x
Just seen that this was bumped so reading a few since I posted the above and in floods of tears. Lost my mum 18th November in her early years she used to go and watch United but then dad got her on the straight and narrow, mum and dad separated around 30yrs ago. So 1998 mum asked me if I'd take her to United for the Munich testimonial, I'd do anything for mum so obviously said yes. Come to empty mums flat and found match tickets and other memorabilia she'd bought that day. Wish I could take her another match

Not too late to get loved ones remembered with their names on the screens at the Chelsea game

I think it’s great that the club do this every year and have done so for a long time now

I’m sure there will be a big recognition of Ricky Hatton

To all blues and to loved ones who have sadly passed RiP and may they be cherished as they live long in memories

Like quite a few others, I've only discovered this thread today and I have to say it's taken a long time to get through these spell-binding posts. I made a pathetic attempt to read out @Wheelsy's sublime post to my mrs, but had to give up as I literally couldnt get the words out. I don't think I've ever read a more accurate depiction of any event in my life. To capture the emotion, the sheer relief and the sense of spine-tingling pride in a few paragraphs is some achievement my friend.

Forgive the following ramblings of this currently over emotional wreck of a man, but I just need to share my story.

I lost my Dad 10 years ago to cancer. His last game was the 2-2 draw with Liverpool, when Sergio scored his stunner from that ridiculous angle. He'd only told me of his diagnosis on the way to the match, but already I knew he wasn't right. He ended his days in Clatterbridge Hospice on the Wirral. There were 2 other guys in his room, one was Lancs coach Glen Chapple's Dad and the other was the most amazing Evertonian, John. We got quite close to his family (all Evertonians) as we waited for the inevitable demise of our loved ones to that bastard of a disease. Ironically, after a couple of weeks of bedside vigils had passed, City were playing Everton at our place and one of his sons asked me if I could get his Dad a matchday programme, which of course I was delighted to do. Like the idiot I am, and as someone who never buys a programme, I thought I'd get one after the game. Could we find one, not a chance. Me and the bro-in-law were in a blind panic, getting more and more upset about the prospect of letting him down.

So, we went to main entrance and told a City member of staff our plight, he told us to wait where we were. 20 minutes later, sweating profusely and out of breath, he came back with not only a programme, but the matchday team sheet signed by Roberto and David Moyes, pin badges, half n half scarf (I know, I know) and a club tie. Absolutely outstanding and typical of our club in these sad circumstances.

To my eternal pain and regret, John passed that night. We returned to the hospice the next day, bearing gifts he never saw. His family however, in their grief, waited for us to arrive and we shared a heart-wrenching few minutes in honour of the man and they gladly accepted the gifts on behalf of their Dad. To say they were chuffed would be the understatement of the Century.

Those gifts from City are still proudly displayed on their mantlepiece and we've remained friends ever since.

My Dad passed a few days later.

The first message I got after the final whistle at the Ataturk was from my Evertonian brothers, God bless 'em, who were cheering the Blues on and raising a glass to 2 great Dads. I was a wreck and completely overwhelmed, but overjoyed they'd thought of my Dad, his team and his son at that time. Truly humbling and something I'll never forget.

Thanks for listening folks, love and peace to you all and especially to those we've lost x
Wow !! What a story...truly humbling

City fans travelling tomorrow to the Stadium of Light.......

We are remembering all those Sunderland fans who have passed in 2025. Pictures will be on seats of where said people were once season ticket holders...and held aloft during a minutes applause.

Blues fans are encouraged to bring portraits / pictures of Blues fans that we have lost and join in the remembrance together as a footballing family.

I will be remembering my mate Gary Rowell, who's funeral I attended yesterday. May he rest in peace, Amen.

Also my late dad and brother John (Rammyblues), who I think of every single day and miss dearly:-(

Just there is one of the reasons I love Sunderland fans. So friendly, such a family atmosphere with them. I have been to your ground so often and have always felt safe.
I've said it before and I will repeat it again. The Sunderland fans on Aguero day doing the Poznan at the Stretford fans was the cherry on the icing on the cake that day.

Thank you @Stockport mackem for letting us know. :-)

Happy New Year. ;-)

My mother passed away 12th of March this year. If City were on Sky I would watch the games round her house. Was probably the best way to watch the games once I stopped attending regularly. She ended up knowing more about City than any 83 year old lady who once over had no interest in the sport. After the Aguero moment she was crying because she said she never thought I would see the day.

Sorry for the 12 month delay Dodge but I've got tears in my eyes reading that. God bless all involved and especially that City member of staff going tge extra mile. X

Who could only have dreamt of this while they were still on Earth. This one's for you. We did it.

WE FUCKING DID IT!!!!
Thanks for this thread, only stumbled across it because of the passing of my Dad earlier this year. The reason why me and my brother @Sir peace frog support our wonderful club and took us to the matches when it was so easy to turn to the dark side. Luckily enough my Dad got to see everything before he passed.

Thanks for letting people know about this. I just registered for my mate Paul.Francis who died this year and was a season ticket holder. His brother scattered his ashes at the stadium memorial garden recently and I just messaged his family so hopefully they will get to see his name on the mid tier LED before the Chelsea game. Rip all blues who are no longer with us and a Happy New Year and happy memories to all.
