Liverpool (H) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Everything about that vile club is a fucking myth from the piped in atmosphere, to those 'special' nights at klanfield, to their 'glorious' istree, to their murderous scumbag fan base characterised as 'cheeky' scousers by a dipper press which is worse than pravda. Its a fucking front for a club full of cheating gobshites followed by scum.
Get it off your chest. Don’t hold back

Looked at the history section and could only see 2 matches against them in 1936/37?

So by my reckoning that was the first time ever we have beaten them 3 times in a season. Yet another record to go with all the others we set yesterday.
Took some finding but we beat them 2:1 in a friendly so in my view it’s doesn’t count

Pep's record vs Liverpool isn't negative anymore: same number of wins (10) but with significantly better GD: + 10.

Just watched the game back.

Liverpool started very well and were probably the better side for the first 25 minutes, but it was like they shit themselves because they didn’t take the lead from their good football and went into their shell. Quite a fragile mindset from them. They’d have made a game of it if they’d carried on with how they started.

But the key change came when [Pep relaying info to Pep2, or Pep2 just doing it himself?] we noticed we were getting overrun in midfield in that early part of the game so we moved O’Reilly higher up into midfield more when we had the ball after he started solidly at left back and then we had the numbers to match them.

From there we took over the game.

Trafford Khusanov O’Reilly Nunes (bar the penalty) and Cherki were all excellent… and Haaland put the ball in the net like he does best.

Funny how my angle of the third goal from my seat looked defintely offside and I barely celebrated yet, seeing it back, it was a great run and pass and was well onside. It’s like the time when Roriguez for Soton got badly injured at the Etihad when nobody was around him… it happened right in front of me and I was convinced seeing it live that he lost his footing on the artificial grass on the other side of the touchline and did his knee in, yet seeing it back he was nowhere near the touchline. Can’t even trust your own eyes or memory!

But that was a really well executed and taken goal, just like the others from open play yesterday.

Some of the interchange football between O’Reilly Nunes Rodri BSilva Cherki Semenyo and Doku has really started to click and develop now. It’s really starting to create good chances and we look dangerous. The new team is coming together. It might be too late for the league… or maybe not, you never know with Arsenal’s mindset… but it’s encouraging for next season and beyond.

All that happened last season was their manager was lucky us and Arsenal dropped off from the two previous years and he still had enough of a well oiled machine that Klopp had left over, in terms of how they played. They knew their style of play inside out, so they capitalised on an easier run to the title.

Now he's tried to implement his own style and players and it's not worked.

I said before the season started that they're going to hugely miss Arnold and Robertson as their first choice full backs together. No matter what you think of them, they created a hell of a lot of chances and played that system well and made them a huge threat.

All that's been undone and now they look lost.
In many games Salah was the difference between even the great City teams and Liverpool (sometimes helped by dubious Penalties)

With Salah obviously nowhere near his peak and Van Dyke also on the wane we were so much better than them after riding out the first twenty minutes.

We also look so much fitter and our physicality has moved up a notch with O’Reilly, Khushanov and Semenyo in the starting 11.

two of their biggest problems this season for that lot are van dik and salah

After yesterday I’d say out team/squad is potentially so exciting and strong. Want to see Rodders and Bernie stay at least one more season to help the transition but we have some great players, Kush, Nico O, Cherki, big Erl, Guéhi, Semenyo, Doku. What a team. Pep for another two years and this FOC will be well happy watching that in his twilight years.

First 15 minutes I thought the game would replicate the semi final as we were struggling a little. Then we came more into it and my thoughts were that it would be a tight game maybe decided by the odd goal. Delighted to be proved wrong. Liverpool are a modern day Stoke with their long diagonals and throws although they have spent more. The fall in standards from Salah and Van thingy are huge and their full backs are shite. Their press started to fade as soon as we scored and they didn’t help their cause by letting Wirtz have a place in the side. You don’t spend over £100m and in April still don’t know what his role is. Good result and watching them stream out with 30 mins left was glorious. At 80 mins I doubt whether there was 2k left. You’ll never walk alone unless you are being battered!
