The Fall - BM's best of thread

About a week ago, there was an announcement in one of the Facebook groups devoted to The Fall that an album of previously unreleased material was going to come out.

Naturally the news was greeted with a fair degree of scepticism (and I, myself, am in the ‘I’ll believe it when I see it’ camp).

But the author did seem sincere. Here’s one of his replies. Make of it what you will:

‘Regarding my post last night.

The new LP that will be released later this year doesn't feature the last line up. It doesn't include material written or performed by the last line up.

It isn't AI! It isn't a solo album. It has been sanctioned by the people that have a right to do so. It isn't a cash grab like certain re-releases!

Nobody is being ripped off or mistreated.

People can be cynical if they want! If you're a genuine Fall fan, you should be very happy that this is happening! It's a positive thing to distract us from the absolute shit show that the world is at the moment!

I can't give any more details. But you won't have to wait too long! The bits I've heard so far are great. I got goosebumps when his voice kicked in! And I'm a self confessed look back bore!

Hopefully The Fall army will be happy when these New Facts Emerge!

^ I might be mis-remembering, but I thought I’d read years ago someone, like Mark or Elena Poulou, saying that a whole album was recorded and binned around the time of Imperial Wax Solvent and Your Future Our Clutter. That could be be good because they were two very decent albums. The former especially.
I just hope it’s not some Ed Blaney-related bollocks.
