I'm with a Chelsea fan at work and he is saying his football was dour. Just possession based and recycling the ball without any real threat.

Chelsea fan I work with said his football was the best they’ve played since Conte won them the league. He just said he doesn’t have a plan B once they start to struggle and his in-game decision making is quite poor.

The whole point of Maresca is that the idea is from the book that Pep wrote. I wouldn't expect many changes.

Where is the problem if we were talking to him but not offering him the position? If we just wanted to understand if he would be interested in the role should Pep decide to leave, then its hardly tapping up.

I think that asking someone if they would be "interested in the role" is definitely a signal that someone is seriously interested in offering it to you and could easily be interpreted as "tapping up" TBH
