nice bump. I defy anyone to find a better real ale boozer than The Marble Arch in Manchester.
We should start a Bluemoon CAMRA meeting

Good shout that man!
Count me in...sod it I'm going to crack open a nice bottle of ale to celebrate!
: )

I'm on a bottle of Ringwood Boondoggle. It sounds like an STD but taste very nice

Its easily the greatest drink ever. Get hammered, minimal hangover, great times.

Minimal Hangover?????! You're not drinking proper Real Ale then...............Watney's red barrel doesn't count!

Only The Knott Bar at arse end of Deansgate comes close, and seeing it's The Marbles sister pub it should, lol.

The Angel two mins from the Marble is a cracker too though....White Lion is a spectacular pint in there...

The Marble, The Angel and Fringe on Swan Street are but a stumble away from each other. And you can sit outside all of them in the sun.

Must say beer festivals aren't the best place to pick up a hot lady though.
Went to the Wigan one last week - lots of beardy men and odd looking young men - virgins I'm guessing.

I miss that pub on/just off Rochdale Road - The Beer Engine? - fantastic place. Constantly changing beers, great atmosphere and possibly the best jukebox I've ever known - Led Zep, Hendrix, Rainbow, Bowie, Floyd, Dylan, Beatles, The Who and just about every other 60/70's classic band or singer on there.

And if you went in through the week around 5ish there were free chip barms - full of salt mind you ;-)

Dont know if all ready mention but I like the this place only open 4 months a go

Thats the one now renamed The Angel....doesn't look too much different from Beer Engine days, same amount of ever changing beers still, but juke box and free chips long gone I'm sorry to say...

And GSC....Bar Fringe can be a great little place, but the beers and amount on can be a bit hit and miss. (Ditto the English Lounge) Great for draught Krombacher and bottled beers though.

I seem to remember particularly enjoying an Fa Cup trip we had to Derby a few Seasons back. Went on the train. Outside the station there were two of the best Real Ale Pubs I've ever been in. One made its own too.
Keep an eye out for the League Cup draw this coming Season as, even if you dont go to the match, the Pub is worth staying in!

I'm fairly new to the world of real ale. I've done the Stalybridge-Huddersfield-Dewsbury train crawl (recommended) and some good beers were had that day. My favourites so far have been; Marstons IPA; Brewdog 5AM Saint; Thwaites Wainwright; and Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted.

If your over Huddersfield way try The Best Real Ale ever
