Liverpool (h) - CL QF post match thread

To me, the display at Liverpool without a shot on target was far more troubling. Sure we tried hard in first half of return leg but disappeared in second. At this level you don't get cookies for trying hard in one half out of four. But what I think is a lot less interesting than how the brass...

Liverpool (h) - CL QF post match thread

Yeah I agree that overall he'll be held to a different standard for the reasons you listed - but will Khaldoon hold his tongue when describing what happened? Because he didn't after what I thought was a far more defensible 1-0 in Madrid in a CL semi - the competition the brass value the most.

Liverpool (h) - CL QF post match thread

Something I'll be interested to see - I've read in many places that the City brass were extremely angry over the 1-0 loss in Madrid in the semi Pellers' last season. Even Khaldoon said in his interview how disappointed he was. I wonder then how they will view what happened in this tie, in...

    United (H) Post Match Thread

One thing is clear to me - we need Laporte and Stones to develop as the CB pairing Pep intends them to be....quickly. Vinny and Ota, god bless them, are not capable in the big matches anymore. They've been skinned the last two matches and at some point we'll need Stones and Laporte to be what...

    Wigan FA Cup post-match thread

This may be true but you simply can't make the mistake Walker made. We may get caught out playing aggressively but that's just a player not knowing what's going on around him. I don't think that's due to the system. They could've been on the offensive if he had simply retained possession of...

On Stones - wondering if he came back too soon.

Don't they add a game if they say it's a frivolous appeal?

    Wigan FA Cup post-match thread

What concerns me more than anything is how ordinary we look when KDB doesn't start. I don't think we've won a single match in regulation when he hasn't started - and most of those matches were against crap teams. And we haven't looked good in any of them.

    City pre-season tour of US - v United 20th / Real Madrid 26th / Spurs 29th July

I was born in Nashville. It is a fantastic city and while it won't get the attention of the other two matches, I will definitely be there. Can't wait!

    Monaco - Post Match thread.

Maybe so but if playing in the summer is going to cause him to be useless the second half of the season we're going to have big problems. Because he's gonna be playing every other summer his entire career. Needs to work on his conditioning and frankly his mentality. Goes missing in far too...

    Monaco - Post Match thread.

It is absolutely criminal that Pep didn't use 2 of his subs. Chasing a goal to stay in a competition and you leave 2 subs in your pocket? I mean, Pep has won a lot of trophies and carries a big rep, but is it possible he froze tonight? Genuinely looked like he didn't know what to do.

Gabriel Jesus back in training (page 77)

So broken toes aren't a symptom of being injury prone? You can be injury prone and have all kinds of different injuries. That's the point. Hopefully he comes back and is fine but it's not a promising start. Either way time will tell.

Gabriel Jesus back in training (page 77)

My concern is that he had injury problems last year - I'm afraid this might be another Gundogan situation, where the talent is undeniable but can't stay on the field.

Is it time to panic yet?

What makes me panic is that we are seeing Pep, for the first time, actually try to rebuild a side. He had ready made teams for him at Barca/Bayern (yes I know he helped some of them in the academy but he didn't have to actually build the team). Now we are looking at his decisions - Bravo for...

Is it time to panic yet?

What concerns me is I at one time thought we were a well oiled machine organizationally. Yet we have seen them allow City to grow old and uninspired right before our eyes. Any objective person could've seen this coming from a mile away and yet our hierarchy have waited far too late to bring in...

    John Stones - 2016/17 performances

KDB was clearly MOM but Stones would be 2nd to me. Thought he was immense.

    Txiki Begiristain

Is it possible the owners have told Txiki they won't spend the kind of outrageous sums it takes these days to sign a true difference maker? I mean do you see us paying 100M for a player like Pogba? It seems clear that Txiki, Pep, etc. have known our weaknesses from the start. I just wonder if...

We need defenders who can defend

Yes, every time I watch Stones I can't say I come away impressed. But to be honest I'd be surprised if Everton sold him anyway. But we can do better.

    Player Topic: Raheem Sterling (2015/16)

I don't understand the focus on Sterling. He wasn't amazing (can't imagine why he didn't shoot on the open goal in 2nd half), but I thought he was one of the better players today by some distance. I'm more concerned about how Mangala has regressed since he got here, and Kompany can't stay...

    Player Topic: Wilfried Bony (2014/15)

Bony will be fine. One thing I have a hunch about with this guy - he may not always put the ball in the back of the net but he will always put in a shift. Like today - could've gotten frustrated with a couple of missed opportunities but he didn't. He kept fighting and created two great...
