CFG | Academy | EDS in & out season 2021/22

My only criticism on the academy is that if the goal is to make money I'm pretty sure we'd make more of it if we gave more prospects a shot to look good playing in the first team. We've have plenty who, compared to Kelechi, were as talented or more talented yet he's the top sale because he got...

    Erling Haaland

The whole argument over whether he would leave before he even gets here is so tedious. If he signs here and Real Madrid come after him in three years it'll be because he was awesome for us and scored a ton of goals. The downside case you guys are fretting over is that he's great, helps us win...

    United Thread - 2021/22

No shit he's "benefited commercially". Through his good works he's (deservedly) received way more fame and attention than he would've otherwise, and all that translates into endorsements and whatever else. Ask the hungry kids who've gotten meals because of him if they care.

    Everton Thread - 2021/22

The selection of pieces looks almost randomly selected, it is honestly pretty amazing. I definitely prefer it to the tacky head to toe Balenciaga or whatever that most footballers wear.

    Harry Kane

    Jack Grealish

If you actually read it (I know, I know) Sam isn’t reporting both things. He’s saying people in both camps seem confident of whichever outcome suits them, pretty big distinction:

That list of players were also some of the best in the world at given points. You'd be thrilled if your random dime a dozen "wonderkids" turned into any of those guys.

I get what you're saying, in two years someone we've never heard of will get held up as the next generational talent. Of course that'll happen, but that doesn't make it so. My point is that these guys are in a different box, they're already doing it and are the genuine article in a way that most...

Yeah, disagree on that one mate. We see a lot of flavors of the month but not guys like these two. Both are producing over a goal a game in their domestic leagues from age 19 and Haaland is doing it in the Champion's League as well. Assuming they keep their heads on straight and manage their...

    Robert Lewandowski

Haha, what are you even talking about? Please explain because I have no idea.

    Robert Lewandowski

Well if it helps you out, over the last five years Lewandowski has 40 goals in the Champions League to Sergio's 19. If you want to say "but Sergio wasn't healthy" ...well yeah that's part of the point, actually being on the field is quite important. Even ignoring that though over both of their...

    Robert Lewandowski

The comparison is dumb for a number of reasons but (while heresy to say out loud) Lewandowski is quite a bit better than Sergio at present, and has been for some time. He's scored double the amount of goals over the last five years as Sergio has and is way higher on both a per 90 basis and xG.

You guys are crazy. Felix is ridiculously talented. His problems come down to a. injuries and b. that he plays in a system intentionally designed not to do anything interesting. He'd be amazing for us.

There's no reason to think he knows anything. His reporting very rarely contains anything that hasn't been widely reported elsewhere.

I've wondered for the last few seasons why we don't do that, for a subset of the players at the very least. Give Kyle Walker a month off starting right now and the only downside is that Cancelo plays the first two or three games instead. Why not?

100%. We wouldn't be able to sign Aguero with our current transfer policy. He'd go to Chelsea instead.

To an extent... you never know someone is going to be an all time great obviously but Sergio was also one of the most exciting and hyped young players in the world. Atleti paid big money to bring him over from Argentina and he scored 100 goals there. He wasn't exactly a diamond in the rough.

Out of curiosity, which strikers out there are "Sergio level" for you?
