    Chelsea Thread - 2023/24

LOL indeed. What is it you'd like to hear as an answer to this question? Whatever the reason, @Vialli98 surely can't be held accountable. I'll take a stab at it: Our support was patchy at that time, and nowhere near the Spartan-like loyalty of City fans such as your good self, who would not...

    Chelsea Thread - 2023/24

He's been injured, and lost some form this season, although I'd not judge him based upon our entire team being terrible. I think the subtext is that he wanted wage parity with Kepa, and that wasn't going to happen. So, a little like Mount (imo) he left because he wanted more money.

Maybe. To be honest it's hard to get your head around the game plan.

    Me either.

    Chelsea Thread - 2023/24

It certainly hurts to see some of our players leave, and especially when they go to direct rivals (Kova, Kai, Mount). But the reality for us is that we haven't been competitive (ie challenging for the title) for a good few years now. And whilst I probably wouldn't have opted for a scorched...

Lol. I wouldn't take it personally, and luckily it didn't come to anything. I wonder who first tabled the idea?

I assume you're referring to the Super League?

Isn't circumnavigating FFP what every club tries to do?

    Chelsea Thread - 2023/24

Yeah, we've been there too re many, many loan agreements. I really don't think it's a City or Chelsea thing. More about what the owning club is prepared to roll with imho.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I'm guessing that Delaney successfully monetises his City stance, what with clicks/profit generally being the primary motivation for 'journalism' these days.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

That's the thing my friend - I do get it. Which is why the only two things I've posted are: 1. I believe that the Independent article by Miguel Delaney as referenced today is highly questionable due to the track record of the author (read, supportive!) 2. I did have a smile with someone here who...

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

That's a little disappointing to read. I'm a member of this forum and find this topic an interesting and important one. I'm not getting 'involved' involved, due to probably not knowing enough about the minutiae. My only material input thus far has been along the lines of 'isn't Miguel Delaney a...

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Isn't the author of the Independent article pretty well known for being not only anti-City but also a fairly unreliable source for footy insight?

Tbf to you I just amended my post as quoted with regards Koulibaly. He'd have likely stayed to fight for his place (keep his astronomical wages!) if it weren't for the deep pockets of the Saudis.

    Chelsea Thread - 2023/24

Yes I can. We've taken losses on every player, I believe. The key dynamic as I see it are the wages Saudi clubs are offering these players. If they weren't offering such huge salaries I'd guess that we'd be selling those same players in Europe at similar prices, although as already pointed out...

    Chelsea Thread - 2023/24

I think that's an entirely believable scenario, and one I'm more minded to align with than my own! For all the conspiracy theories we as fans tend to construct, sometimes it's probably less dramatic things that determine outcomes.

Which for me begs the question, why didn't he sign at the same time as Reece? I'm probably being a little simplistic, but I can't help but think that 'similar' wasn't good enough for Mase.

That's key for us imo. Saving shots on target would be a nice attribute too :)

    Chelsea Thread - 2023/24

If that's true it seems a fairly counterproductive way to work from the club. Sad for Chelsea fans. I suspect there's probably a bit of both our narratives at play. Regardless, it will be a sad day for our club (and a fairly terrible look) if we fail to retain the services of an academy player...
