I agree. My partner, 25 years in the NHS, has just applied for a new job In Trafford. The job is assessing and advising new clients who have been referred to the hospital based drug and alcohol team. Starting September. They assumed the service would be face to face. But no. It’s working from...

I think the idea is that you can pick them up from a pharmacy or order them through the post. In our house we have 2 NHS workers and my daughter works in a school so we have more lateral flow tests than we know what to do with!!

Ah ok. I though you had to stay unblinded to continue. Yes, I’ve got the Novavax jab booked for April 1st. I could have had the NHS one by now, but wouldn’t have managed the 2nd dose before June. Whereas my second Novavax is April 22nd.

Because she asked, and they told her, she’s been unblinded. So I assume she’s left the trial now. I’ve chosen to stay unblinded but will stay on the trial for 3 years. Either way, I’ll be vaccinated by the end of April.

I don’t know what I’ve had. On April 1st I’ll have a jab of either the placebo or the real thing, depending on what I had in September. But I’ll never know which was which. You only get unblinded if you leave the trial.

On the Novavax trial, they’ve had to amend the normal, acceptable blood pressure readings, as they were finding everyone on the trial had high blood pressure on injection day. A combination of anxiety, white coat syndrome, unfamiliarity.

I agree. It’s difficult to recruit carers and it’s not a job many want to do. My mother is receiving end of life care at home and we have carers 4 times per day. I would struggle to do some of tasks they do, with my own mother, never mind with strangers. I marvel at their dedication every day. I...
