Txiki Begiristain to leave role at end of season

I think Gundo and Bernardo have been massively affected by the loss of Rodri. Both of them are spending so much time putting fires out in the gaps that Rodro normally covers has made it impossible for both of them to get up the pitch. We've relied on Savinho but the jury's out with him. Mahrez...

Nunes has a very annoying habit of giving away pointless free kicks….

Match Thread | Brighton vs. Man City (09/11/24)

Bottom line is that however poor we’ve been defensively it’s the lack of control in midfield that’s turned us into a pub team. Nunez runs about a lot but end product is minimal and ball retention is piss poor. Same for Savinho tbh.

Benjamin Mendy - City lose case and Mendy awarded £11m in back pay (p168)

Yeah, this... it just illustrates the madness of football. Imagine running a business like that. As always, I'd imagine it will lead to a bit more small print going into players contracts in the future.

    Media discussion - 2024/25

Possibly the worst pile of shite I've ever read about football... or anything else for that matter. https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/sergio-agueros-goal-and-time-machine-conundrum-consuming-citys-rivals-lbw6vg8x9

    Rodri - The 2024 Ballon d'Or Winner! (Pg 131)

Not widely reported but this is part of what Rodri said last night... “A very special person, my agent Paulo, when you took me to matches, feeding my dreams. I also want to thank my teammates because without them I would not be here as football is a team game. It’s very special for me...

    Micah Richards the pundit

Pretty sure Nedum won't play the fool, and that's why his opportunities are limited. He appears on podcasts and always comes across as balanced and knowledgeable.

    Micah Richards the pundit

I get the feeling that Micah's had a word in his ear about being too much of a fanboy, and he's reacted by trying to play the devils advocate when confronted by potentially big decisions involving us. I'm sure he'll keep getting the SLY Sports gigs but I can't see the attraction of being their...

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

So the letter that City wrote to the clubs that boiled even more piss turns out to be correct... https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/manchester-city-premier-league-rules-richard-masters-apt-tcns3qdqs

Hugo Viana to be new Director of Football (Official Announcement p17)

To be fair to Rofl, he told the rags everything they needed to know but they were too arrogant to take it on board. He's done well since leaving those tools so it does suggest Rofl wasn't the problem.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

My understanding is that Dir Loans can fund working capital including wages (tbh there's a few clubs that would have gone under recently without that facility) so they are effectively treated as income. I agree that this is an area where the APT change is going to have quite an impact.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

From what I can understand from the PSR bullshit, equity injection doesn't count as income and there can only be used to fund infrastructure such as stadium improvement and stuff like that. You can't fund the playing side via that route. Its one of those 'rules' that they came up with to stop...

Arsenal have to pay some interest to comply with UEFA PSR rules, but its not full market rate.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I think its interesting too that Everton have an opportunity to wipe the slate clean wrt to these loans when the takeover happens. From what I've seen its pretty much only when ownership changes that equity can flow into the club so if Everton's new owners take the opportunity to clear the debt...

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

Any reasonable regulatory body (I think the wording is something like that) would have raised a red flag when a consultant was shown to have come up with different valuations based on the same input information. Its a bit weird that the Tribunal thought this was ok.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

No that's wrong. City have challenged the idea that 'soft' shareholder loans (be they zero or low interest or market rate interest) are not currently considered an APT when they clearly are. What this means is that clubs like Arsenal will have to have the value of those soft loans assessed (and...

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

The mad thing is, that if a consultant came up with 2 different valuations for the same thing, surely that would set a red flag and indicate a problem with the valuation process. Yet the tribunal are saying there's nothing wrong with the process. Utter bollocks
