Re: Cesc Fabregas I wonder where Arsenal would be without the money we sent their way?

Re: Cesc Fabregas I dont think we have. And thats whats interesting as if any club has a relationship with the player and his agent its City. Perhaps what he wants for his contract killed any thoughts of a deal?

Cesc Fabregas signs for Chelsea (page 190)

Re: Cesc Fabregas Fabregas seems to be the player nobody really wants. Arsenal, no buy back wanted PSG, not remotely interested Not a sniff from Spain, Italy or Germany Chelsea are still thinking about it apparently. Maybe the only offer will end up being the half-arsed City one?

Cesc Fabregas signs for Chelsea (page 190)

Re: Cesc Fabregas The point is the same. City were perhaps only looking for such a deal?

Re: Cesc Fabregas Each year of the loan is charged at say £10m? It means we book £10m for FFP this year and next. ;-)

Re: City & FFP (continued) As most City fans knew something like this was the direction of travel for FFP it makes it even more enjoyable seeing the Gooners and united fans etc apoplectic with rage. Christmas has come early.

Cesc Fabregas signs for Chelsea (page 190)

Re: Cesc Fabregas I think that is very clearly the case but I also think that we never really wanted him but it was a case of chancing our arm a bit with a 2 year loan deal with option to buy at the end of it.

Re: City & FFP (continued) Allowing City the opportunity to cut themselves loose from the worst financial results in English football history is a bad thing if you happen to have George's mindset ;-)

Re: City & FFP (continued) Exactly. Also the fact that UEFA made the point only that 2nd tier deals with Abu Dhabi companies should be carefully considered ignored the obvious and glaring fact that City's deals for the last couple of years have been non-AD based.

Re: City & FFP (continued) It must be why MCFC accepted this 'limitation' as they already knew that who they wanted would fit into their budget. It could ironically have helped deflate the expectations of some agents and clubs and saved MCFC some money. Thanks UEFA ;-)

Re: City & FFP (continued) So it would be easier enough to structure a deal that limited the financial outlay in season 1 but still made certain that the selling club were confident that they would be paid what they agreed at the outset? Any deal could be sweetened with the initial fee being...

Re: City & FFP (continued) Didnt they make a particular point of excluding any bonus payments from FFP calcs for wages? It would seem very odd, indeed counter intuitive to disregard bonus payments in wages but then include such escalator payments on the transfer fee for the self-same player.

Re: City & FFP (continued) I think you're right in broad terms. The problem though is that of Fabregas or Di Maria, players who were not expected to become available and so the cost was not factored in. Imagine if these players asked for a move to City (As Shaw apparently has to united) but...

Cesc Fabregas signs for Chelsea (page 190)

Re: Cesc Fabregas It seems its the rest of the footballing world that looks at City's squad and thinks that we are still the ones to beat. It also seems that far too few people see Mourinho as a manager that (as Mr Shears has already pointed out) has passed his peak. The problem for Mourinho...

Cesc Fabregas signs for Chelsea (page 190)

Re: Cesc Fabregas Oh what a tangled we we weave when first we practice to deceive. As much as Chelsea think they are playing a blinder and being oh so clever I make a bold prediction - City will come out of this summer window having paid the price they wanted to pay, for the players they...
