Correct……asking price has never been revealed (at least not to us plebs), but was always ‘more than Ben White’. Bit surprised at Chelsea’s random splashing of vast sums….hopefully clueless owners who’ll mess everything up. Horrid club.

Beginning to wonder if this is very close to the truth………

That’s fair. FWIW I don’t think there was ever a hope in hell of Bloom selling for less than 50m (after the White deal) because we simply didn’t want/need to. Cost of any replacement will now have a cucutax on us for sure

Neither was White (IMO…..our 4th best CB at best) but we‘re ending up with £100m+ in our back pocket from a c£15m outlay.

Well it certainly isn’t ‘to the hilt’

Only real debt Brighton has is to Bloom himself, and it doesn’t cost the club anything

Saying no to a bid that was nowhere near the owner’s valuation, when we had no desire or need to sell him at all isn’t ’playing games’.
  10. G

    Marc Cucurella

Yep, some of his best games were on the left side of a back 3

Good post………the buyer will have a view on worth but it’s the seller that puts the price label on and the worth to one side (as here) may differ wildly from the other. Bloom is stubborn, don’t expect him to budge much to make this happen (and remember we still don’t know what his figure actually is).

    Marc Cucurella

….or you have. Tell him (via his agent) to hand in a request………you now have a greater obligation to see it through ‍♂️

The only issue now is City meeting Bloom’s valuation. Do that and it happens, try ****ing around and it doesn’t. Simple (or it would be, if he has told anyone what his valuation is). I can’t see this being done for less than £50m. If it happens (think we’ll all know within a day or two) I wish...

Not in the context of a question about inflation. Ok for you to triple his wages but not ok for us to more than double our investment?
  15. G

    Marc Cucurella

What are the respective wage bills of the two clubs out of interest ?

    Marc Cucurella

Deal will probably get done, but not as a result of Bloom softening IMO. As and when it happens (I don’t see a bidding war either - think it’s City (Pep) or no-one), it’ll be ‘undisclosed’ with both sides claiming they got a good deal, none of us will know the final numbers.

    Marc Cucurella

He’s not that popular with us either

Agree re egos, also depends on the player mentality. However we have done it before though………but this has no bearing on how this will pan out (I don’t think Marc is a Pogba/Ronaldo type though TBF).
  19. G

    Marc Cucurella

Will be interesting to see……..you could be right but when this has happened in the past the players have been fine. Could be that Cucurella will be mightily pissed off with City if they now don’t meet the valuation (he’ll have been told by Bloom that if it’s met he can go right from the off)...
