£4million given towards settling migrants in Manchester

But those are two different problems. People don't rend to be homeless because of lack of housing but because of other issues surrounding poverty, drug abuse and or mental health
Have you ever had to help someone looking for somewhere to live log on to the Manchester council (or whatever they call it) site to bid on houses? There just aren't enough

If it was up to me Damo we wouldn't accept any!!! The money would be better spent on our existing housing shortage problem
Nice person aren't you. Kids washed up on Turkish beaches and still wouldn`t give them a chance. Thank fuck I live in Gorton, where people see the positive impact of immigration. Do you live in Manchester?

I can see the reasoning for helping our own first and others, neither is/are wrong or right. It is just your own personal ideals that prioritize one or the other.
Both views are fair and reasonable depending on again your personal criteria.

For myself i think we should help those who are on their arse from area x before helping others. get them in jobs fixing up houses that are in disrepair for themselves and asylum seekers who are in desperate need. I see loads of boarded up places or buildings suitable for conversion.
Something like this would really help imo, this just smacks of chucking cash around to seem pc.

There is a caveat here though that those with young children from Syria do get looked at first.

The bottom line is though we need more housing.

For fuck's sake. There's this small matter of them fleeing a war zone, having had family members killed or mutilated, losing children and everything they ever had.

There's a sentence I thought I would never see - thank fuck I live in Gorton

Presumably the OP would have displayed the same attitude towards German Jews during the 1930s.

I would be interested to see how many of these migrants have been welcomed down south and not been made part of the social cleansing there.

There are a lot down here on the south coast and in kent,i don't know exact figures. It has been a drain on resources in the smaller towns but what can you do accept kids drowning,it's a dilema
