Of those players,De Bruyne and Bale would make the most dramatic impact,as I believe Fernandinho is capable of retaining a place in our side and maybe we could look to achieve the slightly 'less ambitious' signature of Schneiderlin or McCarthy, both of whom are currently big upgrades on Fernando.
I believe that fernandinho can retain his position in the first XI alongside a creative CM, but to pair him with Schneiderlin or McCarthy might prove troublesome against park the bus sides.
personally, I see him as 3rd choice CM who can play both an attacking or a defensive role off the bench or in case of injuries, or as a third midfielder in tough european games
I think Schneiderlin is good enough technically to still make an impact against ultra defensive sides. The best way to break teams down would be for him to help the defence by dropping in to form a defensive three and the full backs to push up. Teams like Bayern and Barca regularly do this in order to create chances and it does work. Adding width stretches the defence.
I agree with FI on this, Schneiderlin should be near the top of our list and I think we could get him quite easily. Coquelin has emerged as a very good option for Arsenal in that position so we probably wouldn't have too much trouble signing him. Schneiderlin and Fernandinho would be a very good base with Silva in the no10 role.
I agree that Schniderlin should be among our targets for the summer.
I also expect the width problem to be directly addressed this summer.
However, I do believe that we need someone more creative or attacking (finishing, dribbling, shooting) than fernandinho.
