He's good player, I'd pay 30-35m for him. You can't get an English talent of his kind for less money. But 50m is just too much

Why pay that money for him though, there's so many talent outside England who can be bought for the same price.

I'm sure pellegrini said something similar as well

We have to buy some English, homegrown players. Better to pay 35m for Sterling who might come very good than 25m for some dross a la Lallana.

Yep, I agree.

We are stick in a little bit of a hole by the fact we are going to have to buy quite a few English players in the next few windows or so, When James and Frank leave we will only have Hart and Clichy who classify as homegrown.

I actually would like to see more young English players come in as I think the new generation is quite decent, I think all successful teams have a core of players from their own country.

He has been good on quite a few occasions it's consistency he needs, but while dippers were on a good run after Christmas he was part of a front 3, in the last 2 games a wing back. There's always risk but as part of a front 3 I think he could be a good signing 50 mill may seem a lot but in a couple of years look good value. I can't think of any other homegrown player that we could buy in a position we need, other than Bale.

Oh dear...

You have to be under 21 years old to qualify for the award.

Being English has even less value when the award is international, the FA don't pick the winner.

Fair enough, pogba was 21 though yet sterling got it.

Sterling was excellent last year, had better season than Pogba.

Yup having a great one this season too.

Just a one season wonder and gonna be the next swp.

Pogba had the same amount of goals as sterling and he plays cm whereas sterling plays as a winger. Pogba also won the serie a. Pogba had 7 assists sterling had 5. Please don't say he had a better season than him.

So are you admitting that your claim that Sterling only won the Golden Boy Award ahead of "Hazard, Pogba, Courtois and Neymar" solely because he was Enlgish was incorrect?

As it's a European award of which the candidates have to be under the age of 21 and last season the 4 you have mentioned where 23, 21, 22 and and 22 respectively as well as Pogba already winning the award in 2013 when he was eligible.

It's good that you can laugh.

For me sterling is worth £25million,bang £10million on for the home grown quota.........£35million.....no more,IMO.

I would gladly pay around 40 mill pounds for Sterling. At his age and HG and probably the best English player out there right now. You add 10-15 million for being English above his actual valuation, but we desperately need 2-3 HG players and he would be the best out there for me.

Would we get better for that money outside the homegrown quota? yes. But we would only have space for about 3 foreign players in the summer and I do expect one big signing in there as well.

So people are now certain we have tabled £50m for Sterling but why.
It was in the newspaper, so it must be true.

Oh that's ok then was concerning myself we were actually spending £50m on Sterling when was thinking Pogba or Bale.

Sterling good player for around £30m I would take but never £50m

Pogba plays for the only decent team in Serie A, a team that is already 17 points ahead of second place. The platform is there for him to shine; put Sterling in Serie A and he'd be twice as productive.
