£7,360 per day.

"In relation to trusts, based on the information we have available, spending on consultants amounted to £419m in 2014-15 and £301m in 2015-16. We do not yet have the figures for 2016-17."

Almost half a billion spent on consultants in 2014, yes that's just consultants.

I'm not saying that they aren't needed but given failure is a byword for many public projects you wonder if we are getting any 'bang for buck' on most spending.

I‘ve worked in the NHS and that’s pretty disingenuous. The NHS is constantly forced by Government into pointless commissioning exercises - in a more for less culture that sees services decline, services outsourced and staff terms and conditions eroded. The NHS has huge problems and wastes a fortune in pointless commissioning exercises and from employing consultants but be clear - most of the nonsense comes from central government- seeking to privatise services - regardless of the impact on services. Some of the stuff I’ve seen is frankly unbelievable.

It is perfectly fine to pay these "consultants" that money, as we all went out and clapped the real workers of the NHS....and that made everything so rosey!

A slap in the face to all the cleaners, porters, nurses, docs and support staff.
