Question is, does he improve our team from last year, is he better than tevez?
It was disappointing to lose tevez, but obviously we need to trim the wage bill so in the end he had to go, not really sure about this guy yet, seems to be a bit like dzecko in style, big strong goal poacher with no pace, i can't really work out how pellers is gonna set the team up yet, think he might do okay on his own up front playing in a similar role to how Fred plays for brazil, don't see him working well with kun tho as I think his attributes are to similar to dzecko who as we saw last season cannot play with kun.
Assuming we do get him we'll have
Aguero, quick, tricky, good movement, iffy finishing
Guidetti, strong target man, unknown quantity
Dzecko, immobile target man with confidence issues
Negredo, strong, target man, looks a good finisher, slow, unproven in the prem
hope that if we do sign this guy dzecko will be on his way, replaced by a quicker more mobile player to balance our strikers.
He isn't better than Tevez, he isn't replacing Tevez I don't think who I would hardly class as a striker for us since he came back off holiday. Been playing a lot deeper, as a CF almost.
Just because he has similar attributes on paper it doesn't mean that he can't play with Aguero. To be fair you could also argue a new manager could coach Dzeko and Aguero into a very potent partnership. Mancini struggled to do this because he also had to shoe horn Balotelli and Tevez into the team to keep some kind of squad harmony!
Txiki is working his way through removing that problem as much as possible, create a squad that is streamlined and "battle ready" for each situation.
I don't think Dzeko will be sold until Lewandowski leaves Dortmund, there doesn't seem to be any other club out there interested.
Four out and out strikers in Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo and Guidetti is fine.
I wonder if Navas is perhaps going to be used as you say as a mobile striker if really necessary.
