Will be interesting to see what happens to Dzeko after this as they seem to be similar players - could be that we end up with Aguero, Negredo and one other + Guidetti.

I think he'll be a good buy though, as we don't need another superstar who tries to beat everyone on the pitch three times before shooting, just somebody who knows where the net is. And, if we are going to play 4-3-3 next season, then Aguero would presumably play most games up front on his own.

If we do splash the cash this summer then I'd much rather it be on a Bale-type player than Cavani.

If the reports are true then Cavani hasn't been plan A since Pellegrini came as he doesn't like him quite as much as Mancini did.. He knows Spanish football inside out, and to be fair, Spainards have got a pretty good track record when it comes to adapting to the Premier League

The guys a decent player but nowhere near that good. He's been hyped up and everyone's jumped on the Cavani bandwagon when in truth be told he should never ever be getting rated anything like he is at the moment. A couple of good seasons in an attacking free flowing napoli team with good players around him.

Realistically, even in the current market, I would not price Cavani much more than 5-7m more than Negredo. He's certainly not worth anything like 40m more.

There's a huge difference between settling for second best and not being plain fucking stupid. Thankfully Pellegrini seems to have that covered.

Are you high or something? Cavani has had just a couple of good seasons. It's your opinion if you prefer Negredo over Cavani. I won't fault you on that, but to see that Cavani is just ok good is just pure bullshit. 104 goals in 138 games is not ok good, it's world class.

I think there is an element of trust the manager on this one. He has worked in Spain long enough to know a decent player.

I wasn't exactly jumping for joy when we signed Zabaleta, kompany and Nastasic as I hadn't heard of them and look how they turned out!

I agree that he's overpriced, but he's definitely not overrated. He's clearly one of the best strikers in the world right now, and I'd obviously love him at the club. Just not for the sort of money it would cost.

Yeah I would think they'd compliment quite well as long as there's pace and support to pick up all the balls Dzeko fluffs at his feet.

I keep reading this is the man the manager wants so therefore lets get him. Now a few weeks ago when Mancini was sacked and the new holistic approach was being discussed I kept reading that the manager wouldn't be calling the shots anymore on what players we buy. Instead that would be down to Txiki and Sorrano and the coach would just coach.
