He's not going to be first choice anyway, don't know why people will worry about that.

Nice to hear that you`re an ITK and Pelle has already told you the finer points of his team selection and formation.

Not claiming to be ITK, just saying, Dzeko seemed all but out and now he seems to be staying? I'm not worried if he is first choice anyway, I'm going to actually let Pellegrini handle the team first before I decide we've won or lost the league.

Nice touch that you'll let Pelligrini handle the team, I'm sure he's quite relieved about that. I certainly am.

An Atletico Madrid spoke person has said that its game over for them, they couldn't compete with Manchester Citys petrodollars, so I think its safe to welcome our new #9..

Prof,

No one in their right mind ever thought that the manager would not have a say in who we buy.

I know that, I'm merely pointing out that when Mancini was sacked and everyone was falling over themselves to explain/justify the holistic approach it was said on here that the manager would have far less of a say in our future dealings. Same goes for whenever we're associated to a new signing and everyone starts raving about how fantastic these below grade A players really are. Now they may do brilliant and they may not but I just wish people wouldn't go so far in justifying how talented and what a bargain these players are. If they truly were that good they'd be household names. I don't really care myself these days one way or another I just go along and support the team and keep calling me Prof I like it ;-)
Below grade A players?

Don't get that. They are high quality players. One of the best wingers and best strikers in Spain, and one of the best midfielders anywhere, and more importantly their skills address nearly all the weaknesses we exhibited last season:

1) lack of goals - the biggest problem.
2) lack of width
3) lack of mobility in midfield and pace on the break.

By grade A players I'm referring to the likes of Cavani, RVP, Bale, Yaya, Silva, Aguero etc. Look I'm not and never said Negredo is a bad player or won't be brilliant for us, I've also never said we should only target the likes of Cavani etc (personally the 53m touted was ludicrous). I was merely pointing out that Negredo, Fernandinho and Navas I doubt very much would have been on any City fans lips at the end of last season and I doubt would hardly be the first names to trip off most supporters of the so called big/elite Champions League clubs. That's not to say they won't be a success of course and it looks to me like we are building a strong all round squad with the direction we are taking in signing these types of players.

I'll just remind you of cold, rainy January night in Stoke...

I'm sure he can bang goals in Spain but its different here. Dzeko was doing same in Germany and look at him now.

prof... who do you Think said get him, on narvas get him on fernandez.. and get him on isco ( ok we never but we tried) dont you Think pelli had a say... i would guess it was pelli who gave the order

Like it stan I like it (Prof) might even change my username.

I totally agree with you but what I was getting at was if we rewind to when Mancini was sacked and the watchword from City was 'holistic' everyone went into meltdown trying to justify the term and what it meant and from what I gleamed it seemed pretty conclusive on here that Txiki and Sorrano were going to be the ones buying in future. All references were made to their deeds at Barca etc and how Mancini wanted too much say in our future transfers and vision and he was toast. Of course I/you/others always expected the new manager to have their own input in things but all I'm saying was that lots of posters went out of their way to offer only the DOF's vision of City's future dealings in order to fit in with the explanation given as to why Mancini was dismissed.

hey i just jump up and down when we score.. kick the cat when we lose...

the finer Points who knows and WHO cares? we want the best for our club as fans and hope the people who are paid very good Money do the best job for US. in the way they run it.. the holeistic.. i understood.. was to have a system/plan that runs trough the ranks of youth tams to first team. on the way we play... nothing more nothing less.. Think it was said Before we are now getting round pegs for round holes... thats good news. ohh and on lower wages.. so we can buy better players. etc etc.

Given some of the comments on here and the apparent need for a bigger signing, perhaps if we simply pay 42m for him rather than 24m, everybody will be happy...?

His letdown is his pace, isn't very quick.

However, his movement off the shoulder is very well timed and gives him the yard he needs. Tends to shoot first time rather than piss about with it.

He's a little bit like RVP in some ways.

Pace isnt everyting - Tevez had no pace but how good was he is his prime?

Fair comment about his speed of turn
Dzeko got 14 League goals last season
Aguero 12 League goals
Tevez 11 League goals

He's capable of scoring 20 plus, as are Aguero and Dzeko so let's hope that Pellegrini can get the most out of them - if so the title is ours
