“City in crisis”

The level of the defeat was harsh yesterday and our performances recently have been well under par but not as terrible as the results suggest. It just feels every mistake we make gets punished and we don’t take our chances. It’s clearly going to take time to work out how to get back to winning ways but we WILL need all our senior players to help us get there.

This is just a taster of the future for when we do fall back into the pack permanently but right now we need to trust the boss. I’m not keen on some fans turning on players like Rico and Phil, who are still quite young and have never experienced a situation like the one we are in. Lots of players look great in winning teams then bad when they start to lose. Pep’s system relies on everyone taking credit “as one” for the highs, and collective responsibility for the lows. The guys need to stick together right now.

It will be a difficult couple of days for us especially as the new raggy boss love-fest will no doubt kick in today, but luckily we have another game Tuesday to focus on.

This mentality has been missing for quite some time. Welcome back, my old friend.

Been looking at usernames.
Surprised not to see Neville Chamberlain, Stanley Baldwin, and Michael Fish up there.
Of course it's a fkin crisis! At least in football terms, perhaps not existentialist, scheme of the universe, your health and family terms. But last time I looked, it was a footie forum.

This is what happens when the squad is unbalanced and too old....the latter caused by bring too successful, it's too easy to think we'll just let them rumble on, they're winning so no big need to change.

That being said yesterday even with no midfield it was fine margins and 4-0 wasn't a fair indication of the game.
"Fine margins" yep thats my favourite.
Thanks for cheering me up. Needed that.

The drop off started over 2 years ago, sticking with aging players and the recent signings nowhere good enough. Laporte should never of left at that time.
Bernardo should have gone in the summer he offers so much less now.
Recruiting fresh hungry players is the skill we’ve excelled at mostly, however one measure is our bench and not using some of the players regularly shows peps lack of confidence in them. Showing a rather thin squad.
We’ll really appreciate success when it comes next based on yesterday’s performance, it won’t be soon. We can only play one way, that’s a problem in itself when certain players are past their best.

After how much we’ve been spoiled over the years, it’s hard for me to feel too upset. We’ve had it so good for so long, if we have a dip for a couple of years honestly I won’t be that arsed.

It is what it is.
.....and a 'dip' could be runners up and cup semi finals !!

There aren't many elite, world class players to buy and replace our aging warriors, who've been shattered by hundreds high intensity games for 6/7/8 seasons almost without a break.

However,we replaced Kun,Merlin,Vincent,Yaya, Zaba etc, and will need to go through a similar evolution again, albeit imo it'll be more of a challenge this time.

Pep has warned about player burn out and the risk to players health for 3 years....its arrived, and as a perfect storm.

Whether the circus around PSR/ATP/115 has had any influence over the clubs decision making re recruitment/sales is impossible for us to say, but we bought Erling,Josko, Doku,Savinho & Nunes.....and €85€ million for Alvarez (a very good young player) was arguably too good to turn down.

Id have risked keeping Palmer for another season, he was under contract, and very few people would've predicted his development and form.

Now is not the time for blame, recriminations and comments from Pep or the players.

Circle the wagons, heads down, say nowt, and work our way through this with pragmatism not idealism.

Nothing lasts for ever and this 'dip' will pass but we fans now have a huge role to play in supporting the club in the stadium and online.

Unnecessary "we are shit" postings must stop. If posts can't be constructively critical don't post anything.

A few defeats ain't the end of the world....its the beginning of a new era !!

CTID !!

Yep, three games ago I wouldn't have been all that worried, but i reckon that we ARE in crisis now ...... right now we are totally devoid of confidence, and we don't look to be a team that can do anything right.
I thought we were shit and slow against Fulham, Wolves and Southampton but got away with three narrow wins.

2nd place.
Long long way to go.
Crisis? Not so sure. Lack of confidence, ageing team yes.
We need to stick together. We really do.
I am at peace with not winning the league this season. I wanted last years more than any.
Try to stay in the cups. Top 4. Rebuild in summer.

This is how I've been thinking, before yesterday even. I suspect this team in it's current form is at the end. It's concerning in all areas of the pitch. Not scoring enough goals, lightweight and immobile midfield, and a defence that is shipping goals for fun now. The injuries are a big factor, but the fall away in form is staggering. Now isn't the time for nostalgia of our recent triumphs, but quite a few fans can't accept the obvious.
