“City in crisis”

Was going to write a long post but I'll basically be saying what Millsy said with more swearing. Though I wouldn't blame Pep much for recent team selections it's more a case of him picking who he has to due to injuries and fitness. Although McAtee has been poorly treated imo.

Its not a crisis its just the end of another chapter in history at least as far as the team on matchdays goes.

It happens to all teams especially in comps that are as competitive as the Premier League.

All teams are striving to improve all the time and all the worlds best players will not want to or be able come to City with the passing of each transfer window.

Some people have short memories in the past twelve seasons Liverpool have finished outside the top 4 on 4 occasions and finished 4th twice.

They have won one title in that timeline the same number as Leicester City.

Arsenal have finished outside the top 4 on 6 occasions and have not won a title.

Chelsea the next best team in terms of premierships in that timeline with 2 and finishing outside the top 4 the following season after winning the title have finished outside the top 4 on 4 occasions including finishing 12th.

None of these clubs one would say despite the results they were in crisis.

This year might be the first time in 16 seasons we finish outside the top 4 , yes that is right 16 seasons on the spin.

If so I won't be complaining too much.

Manure have finished outside the top 4 on 6 occasions since we last finished outside the top 4.

16 years around 20 per cent of your lifetime , yep no complaints from me.

Sure no supporter likes their team to lose 5 on the spin but it happens to the best of run clubs , that is just the nature of sport as it should be.
3 THREE 3 PL games....3 !!

Not so long ago we'd be on the piss for days if we won 3 !!

Praps McAtee just ain't cracking it in training.

If he was blitzing it he'd force his way in and show whether he's good enough !!

Countless problems... Where on earth do we start?

Firstly, Pep must take the much of the blame. He continues to start players that are simply out of form. Prime examples of this are Walker, Savinho & Bernardo. All three simply aren't playing anywhere near well enough to warrant consistent starts whilst the likes of Mcatee are sat on the bench. In fact, i wouldn't be surprised to see Mcatee follow what Cole Palmer did and ask to leave in January- If he can't get game time now he never will.

Forgetting Pep picking out of form players, what has really killed us is 2/3 years of generally poor recruitment/squad planning. On the squad planning issue, we have too many aging players that are shadows of their former self (Walker, Bernardo, Gundo, KDB to name a few) and we have gone from having several 'great' players to simply 'good' players. The difference is vast. Our squad is also laughably paper thin when you consider the sheer number of fixtures we have to contend with.

On the recruitment side, When you look at the calibre of players that have departed us in the last 3 years it is genuinely frightening... Laporte, Jesus, Palmer, Zinchenko, Sterling, Cancelo, Mahrez, Fernandinho, Alvarez... I could go on. When you look at who we have brought in during the time the above names have left only really Haaland and Gvardiol have been what you could deem a success. Most have flopped badly- Nunes and Kalvin Phillips being prime examples.

I have a great deal of sympathy for the following: Walker (Been a great servant but his legs have gone), Gundo (Same as Walker), KDB (Getting old now, Always injured and carrying a lot of timber these days), Rico (Top squad rotation player but not good enough to start consistently in a teams midfield that aspire to win titles).

The other lads in the squad don't really have any excuse. Grealish has let us down for two years now, Savinho isn't good enough, Foden not fulfilling his potential.

Big problems. Breaking the bank for Barella at Inter in January would be a start towards fixing some of these issues.
Getting sick of whinging fans who think we have a devine right to win because we normally do. Who could see Rodri , Bobb , KDB getting bad injuries along with numerous defenders also hindsight is a wonderful thing. Also if the club had gone out and spent millions on other players that in itself would have caused issues no top player is gonna come here thinking they might be bench warmers because all our players being fit who you gonna bench so it’s a fine balancing line.

This team have been unbelievable and deserve our support, Pep will sort it the only thing is it’s gonna take time and seems a lot of fans can’t accept it. January is not a great time to be signing great players so patience is required.

Despite our bad strectch, we aren't f*cking sh1t all of a sudden, and every player in the 1st team shouldn't be sold. Of course, the squad must/will be refreshed next summer. In Pep I trust!
We’ve been in decline for 18 months. We are so far off the entertaining and free looking football that we, and other football fans adored. Our recruitment policy has been abysmal. Remove Haaland from this and what was our last signing that genuinely made us excited, and be the other top 4 were envious of? We need a massive overhaul and bring through the fresh blood of our youth team, coupled with the addition of high quality proved players.
