“City in crisis”

From an objective point of view, Pep stayed for another 2 years because the club don't know who to appoint next. Txiki was hired in his role, as the owners knew 2 things, 1. He could get Pep to the club as they're close friends, and 2. He could build a squad for Pep having done that before in the past. That makes the signing of the new deal after Viana has agreed even more unusual.

I know people won't want to hear this, but I think the owners would have wanted a similar model which would be - Hire Viana, Hire a Manager he's worked successfully with - Amorim. That can't happen for the time being, so Pep now has effectively become an interim in a new project. Is Pep Viana's man? Probably not as he was Txiki's man and Txiki is moving on. If Txiki's next club is right you can see Pep following him to wherever that is. The next decision is what is the sporting direction of the club? Again that was driven by Txiki and Pep and goes right through the first team down into the academy. What happens when Viana comes in? Does he continue what has been working even though it's not "his way", or does he try and implement "his way". If he does, then you could end up with a lack of synergy, and something of a clash of styles if Viana and Pep aren't on the same page. It also effects recruitment too. At some point as well for a smooth transition, players will need to be recruited for the next manager, and his style of play. That means Pep ends up with players that aren't his players as he knows he's leaving. Only way it goes smoothly is if the next manager has a very similar style of play to Pep or has worked with him. I think it ends up being Kompany, but he probably wants to commit to Bayern for longer than a year. From an outsiders point of view he'll win stuff in the next 2 years, but it just won't be as plain sailing.

interim? ohhhhh kay

A crisis is having 2nd division Scottish players in your team or not having enough money to pay your players and staff or about to enter administration or even getting dicked by Arsenal 6 nil at home and deserving to be.
Even IF you think that players are past it, we now have resources to address that issue.

In the cold light of day we are 2nd in the league, with more than 2 thirds of the season left. We laugh when the press award the title to Liverpool in December and Arsenal in March and then we win it by 5 points in May so I will wait until the end of the season to assess where we are, but accept that some are deeper down the hole.
Stop talking sense. They’ll be onto you in a flash.

I have decided to look upon this season with positivity.

The downturn in performances will allow the club to sit down and ruthlessly cut the playing squad. Before we couldn’t do that because the bastards continued to win season after season so we left them to it and patched the squad up bit by bit.

Treble
4 in a row

Both achievements stand out to us city fans for the rest of our lives. It also put us in a funny position regarding transfers. How could we treat the players like shit after all they have done? We didn’t and because we didn’t the squad has run its natural course.

So yes it’s shit, every other fan especially those red clubs and the media will now be happy that finally the city winning machine is ground to a stop.

We don’t treat people like shit. We appreciate their past achievements and now we can look them in the eye and say you need to be moved on for the club to keep the standards set.

Could it have been managed better? Sure but it ain’t the end of the world.

Serial winners come to an end. No other club has won as much as us so they have no right to judge now we need a rebuild. Their opinions are actually worthless.

I am genuinely grateful to every single one of them and wish them all the best going forward.

Iv learned the hard way to tune out any outside negativity.

Love United fans and their incredibly uninformed takes on the club. You're desperate for it to fall apart but unfortunately for you and your fan fiction writings, it isn't. Sorry lads.

Oh and objective doesn't mean what you seem to think it means. And the idea that City have put together a billion pound squad to then completely change style of play is utterly stupid. Just because United have been bouncing around playing styles in a schizophrenic way for the past decade and spent billions doing so doesn't mean every other club does it.

Btw, if City wanted Amorim then Amorim would be at City and you know it. Still, big game for you later. If the stars align and you get a really good result, you might be able to break into the top half of the table. GGMU!

I don’t think the situation is too serious, if Haaland was in form the results would have been different.

Too many players are not match fit, we need a defensive midfielder in January and inject some energy by fielding some younger players, this will be a transitional season, hopefully the court case will be over, it casts a dark shadow on the club!

I wonder if we would have been more active in this summers transfer market, both buying and selling, if we hadn't won the league last season?
Who knows. As i said, signs were there last year.
KDB is THE best player the clubs ever had but time waits for no man.
And im sick of hearing “but rodri injured …”. Yeah, hes the worlds best player but we have always been an injury away from us being in the shit with no one whatsoever capable of even half replacing him

Im disappointed with the total neglect of squad recruitment and its bit us BIG time

I was ok before reading this.

Anyone got a spare length of rope I can borrow?
I have one, but it’s old and frayed and might not take the strain.
It was a good rope once. A great rope in fact able to bear any burden.
Alas now though, I think time and overuse has caught up with it.
I wouldn’t rely on it to hold anything together.

The ridiculousness of this whole situation goes back to the LC game at Spurs when Pep had said that he was gonna play the kids and ended up playing most of the 1st team only to pick up injuries in the match and warm up.
Ironically, of the last 5 games, the performances that night of Wright and O’Reilly were excellent compared to the dross in midfield we have seen since
Driving me fukin mad watching some of our past it players on pitch ahead of some of the academy lads!
