“City Matters” fan committee

@Prestwich_Blue I imagine. Abused is a bit of a stretch, but there were some ill-judged and unfair responses to any criticism/disagreement of the decisions made in the City Matters group.

No offence against PB but early signs are that City Matters isn’t working. These people are providing a view on things to the club, but not engaging with the fans they represent. What I mean by that is they should be asking fans from the category they represent what they think on topics that are to be discussed.

Not sure how that would work, ask fans on here and they will get different views non of which represent fans at the ground. They would get views that the club aren't even going to consider so would be pointless. The club have a general direction of travel which isn't going to change all the City Matters can do is influence things within that and suggest a few ideas, I'm sure the various reps do discuss things with fans they represent but a forum like this isn't the place to do it . I think you're expecting things from this that it isn't designed to do and couldn't be.

You've got my email address. There's this forum. Does your MP ask you for your opinion every time there's a vote in Parliament? If there was a major decision to be made, I'd be looking to survey seasoncard holders.

But in one sense you're right. The club has been very slow in coming up with an effective communication strategy and we'll be discussing this tonight.

Would it be feasible for the club to email the relevant category of supporters (who voted initially for a rep) on given major decisions and responses from individuals go to the relevant Rep. it could be a start?

Can't see how that would work as there is no real way of canvassing all the fans they represent. Even if it could be done, there would be so many different views that it would be impossible to represent all views effectively anyway.

You can't expect them to canvas supporters on every issue, any more than an MP would canvas the constituency on every parliamentary issue. You elect them and hope they represent you well. If you feel that they don't do this, then you vote for somebody different next time.

They could feasibly email all seasoncard holders, probably all female supporters, and all U-25/O-65 ones. But it's impossible to email BAME or LGBT fans because there's no way of knowing who they are as we don't collect data on these.

Imo yours is a difficult job as there are 1000 different opinions about what should be done. All we can ask is for you and your colleagues to use whatever influence you have to try and get the club to think through how changes that they make impact on the match going fan base. We can’t expect you to take on every idea or gripe our 40k season ticket holders have, that’s just mad. It is a concern that so early in its life there are problems with what is reflected in the minutes. Hopefully that’s a teething issue and resignations can be avoided. Good luck mate and I’m sure the vast majority of fans support your efforts.

Wasn’t a cricism of you mate. More general really. My gut feel is the club will just push through what they want to do and say they discussed it. The fact the minutes not issued from last meeting says it all. Totally different point but I’m sure you guys already raised about season ticket prices next season. United price freeze for last 8 years. Bet ours won’t be. Good luck with it.

As I am a season card holder, a female, a Supporters club member & over 65 I could get four options!! Four votes even if it came to a vote! Just a thought. :-)

Aren't there about 40000 s/c holders, about 70-75 %

Sorry pal, wires crossed here

60% of away tickets are up for grabs to seasoncard holder

The maths PB then did only emphasises the point of the unfairness though

Shame he hasn't mentioned it in any of the meetings so far
