There you have it. Even when the youth get together, belt out the newest chant, get other City fans singing it, have a good time, some City fans still criticise them and call them silly names like the ‘concourse choir’. F*ck me, as a fan base we just can’t win!
They are young lads having a drink and a chant at half time. We’ve all done that on numerous occasions over the years following City. Some of you seem to forgetten that as you’ve got older.
When was the last time you went to a night club, coped off with a girl, and stayed out the night? No, I don’t do that anymore either, sadly.
They would take that energy off the concourses and into the stands if they could have a beer in their seats (argument for another day) let them have their fifteen minutes of fun, where there’s no jeopardy involved, friends can stand/group together, have a a sing song and revel in a nightclub atmosphere. A lot of it stems from the Yaya/Kolo chant, I’ve heard that sung on student nights & nightclubs in random places up & down the country, with barely a City fan in sightYou could be right about the age thing but it still strikes as odd to me and I cannot remember it like that from my 20s. In fact we used to get on the Kippax 1:30ish and start singing.
It was a decent atmosphere on Saturday (not as good as last year) but walking back for the start of the second half there was absolutely hundreds having a sing along on the concourse, smoke bombs going up, fans stood on the central table dancing. The other side of the wall were going for the title.
Not knocking anyone who has travelled all that way, but great if we could give all that energy to the team.
Nail on the headBefore the dips home game there were a few lads on the tram singing the song, on the awoooo bit virtually all the tram joined in. To me, it makes the song, it's daft, funny and just so City.
But what we gonna do when we get a song to the tune of 'Werewolves of London'..?
I’m 63 and I do the awoooo, great song (even though I am a shit singer)100% have to keep the awoooo it’s iconic now! Love the song
