1 | James Trafford - 2025/26

Thank god we didnt go in to the season with him as no1. Has a LOT to learn. Has potential but needs time. Definitely not ready for the 1 spot.

Astonished at whoever sanction his purchase.

He was a disaster in 2023/24 PL and ended up getting dropped in the end, and only then shone under a defensive first Burnley team in the Championship.

As we have seen over the last few seasons, the gulf in quality from the Championship to the PL is monumental now.

When we brought Hart back into the fold for good under Mancini, he was PFA team of the year goalkeeper for Birmingham. Had we not put him as number 1, United and Arsenal were ready to sign him.

He didn't fail in the PL, then have a good season in the Championship and all of a sudden was ready to win leagues and CL's. Hart was ready. Trafford is nowhere near.

Very strange decision to sign him.

I wonder will we get our money back on him? He wont hang around as number 2 for long. Maybe for the best we didnt flog Ortega, we might need him as number 2 when trafford goes.

If the gloves don’t fit, you must acquit…. And his gloves don’t fit, metaphorically speaking

Not the game for me to get stuck into him but it’s wild that we ever had conversations about him V Donnarumma. Total madness

I don’t think he could be blamed for either of the goals and other than the “Eddie” moment, he didn’t really have much to do. The problem was, he shouldn’t have been playing. There’s a time and a place to give a back up keeper minutes and GW5 of the CL, when you’ve not qualified for the next phase, isn’t it.

I’m yet to be convinced that he is a decent back up. Although to be fair, not many back ups are overly useful. I think the transfer will ultimately prove to be a mistake, for us and for him.

wonder if he thinks he made a good move by not going to Newcastle. dont see him displace Donnarumma in near future and eventually will want to go to a club like Newcastle-Villa. displacing a 35yo not extremely great Pope would have been an easy target imo already this season for him.
