1 | James Trafford - 2025/26

I hope that this is not true, both in terms of him wanting out and in the sense of us not behaving honourably. Personally, I would prefer us to act with honour and play James Trafford as the number one than sign a great goalkeeper like Donnarumma. If we did what is being suggested, then good luck James Trafford in whatever you decide.

Should be absolutely no surprise to anybody. Not entirwly sure we'll sanction it in January but next summer it's a certainty. we shafted him so got to let him go and be number 1 somewhere else.

Newcastle will probably be very willing to come back in for him given Popes form, I'd be surprised if Chelsea didnt come sniffing too, seems like he would fit like a glove there.

Do think we'll look back with some regret about him not being our number 1 but it is unavoidable since going in for Donnarumma.

Nothing I've seen from Trafford in a City shirt suggests he's any better than Donnarumma with his feet and distribution. Granted, the sample size is small for Trafford, but he's becoming the new Oscar Bobb in terms of becoming a better player the more he doesn't play.
You only need to watch both for 5 minutes to see Trafford is vastly superior to Donnarumma with his feet and distribution. The difference is night and day.

I do still find it hard to believe we’d be happy for him to come as no1. Like I just said with competition for a year is fair enough but as a long term first choice without proving it at the highest level is very questionable.

It's kind of mad that Ortega is now 4th choice when IMO he's our second best keeper and comfortably better than Trafford right now.

We're going to have to sign a new keeper in January at this rate

When the summer transfer window started.. did anyone think we were signing 3 goalkeepers and now possibly a 4th for this season??

Still think Trafford is better than Donnarumma and would allow us to play through presses with his feet and distribution much better.

We're struggling with it at times.
Well he wasn’t that good with his feet that first season at Burnley as I recall.
Not sure where all this talk of brilliant distribution has come from.
From what I can see Donnarumma is perfectly adequate in that department.

I think they’re very similar keepers in terms of skillset.

Donnarumma is much more experienced and has more aura.

They’re both terrific shot stoppers, but are clunky on the ball and dodgier than they should be on crosses.

Trafford is done here as long as GD is here.

I am not sure there are any obvious teams that would want him, have the means to pay it and that he would want to go to.

Ortega back in as number 2 with a years extension wouldnt be a bad solution for us.

We’re not a charity, you do what is most likely to win stuff. When the best goalkeeper in the world becomes available you sign him!

Would you have said keep Wilfrid Bony if Messi had become available and wanted to sign?

Always, always look to improve and get the best you can.
