Just to clarify, as I'm seeing "shagged a teenager"...
The witness was 17. She said another woman (a witness yet to give evidence) aged 23 told her she (the 23 year old) had slept with Jack.
Sounds like a seedy party all round and it pisses me off that any of our players are anywhere near this sort of thing, but - the person he's alleged to have sex with was an adult, the report is based on hearsay, and as far as we know he's not accused of any crime.
Unfortunately I'd be surprised if he's the only one of our players (other than the obvious) to come out of this trial with reports of less than family-friendly behaviour.
It's a rumour of drunken, consensual sex that was probably infidelity. It's not the first such rumour about him, and he's not the first of our current players to face such rumours. It sounds worse because it's being mentioned in court, but I don't think so far it seems like anything other than what he's been reported doing in the past.
From a footballing point of view I worry about the extent of the drinking. From a club/player image point of view I worry about the whole context of these parties with their power imbalances and what it says for how players see and treat women.
I'm hoping there's nothing else of this sort that comes out of the trial. And hoping Jack takes it as a wake-up call, although given past behaviour it seems fairly unlikely.
On a separate point, I thought he was one of few bright sparks for England yesterday.
