Pep ain’t stupid. Jack is proving now to be one hell of a purchase. Settling in nicely and now taking on extra responsibility to determine the outcome of the game. He was in awe when he arrived, maybe felt like he did not belong.

His hold up play, drive and ability to control a game is fantastic. Assists improving, goals would be a bonus. Shouldn’t be a choice between Jack & Phil. Both need to start as many games as possible.

City always plan 3/5 year cycle. Gives the new players a chance to find their way while also being respectful to the senior players who maybe on the way out over that same period of time.

Very few players are worth 100m. He is still not one of them but if we had paid 60m people would now be saying his value has gone up.

Fight and ability to wind people up is a bonus.
Some fair points, but think the bit in bold is a stretch. He's growing into the side finally after 18 months, which is really great to see, but for an attacking player needs to be contributing more offensively.

Yes, his hold up play, retaining of possession and ability to win fouls is good but he needs to be scoring and assisting more. For someone taking up one of our attacking positions, 3 goals and 4 assists so far is pretty tame, i think those numbers need to be higher.

You are ignoring a very large part of his game, and what he brings to the team, the build up play and 'pre' assist.

Offensively,he might hit the obvious numbers.....but he contributes superbly and defensively he is also becoming an asset.

I'd also say he is 'one hell of a purchase'

At any price.....

I see him coming to the middle of the pitch often these days. most of his best passes come from the middle. his work rate is better than all our midfielders except bernardo. can easily see Jack playing as a 8. it will be a shame if pep refuses to try him as a 8.
Perfect chance last 20 to test the waters. Disappointed Gomez was played there ahead of both him and Foden

Needs to play in the middle. He knows when to drive forwards and when to slow the game down. He wants the ball to feet, not into space and it's too predictable generally for a wide player in our team, particularly when he rarely looks to cross the ball in and plays back to the full back/midfield. That's not a slight on him, it's just a combination of what he's instructed to do and what he feels comfortable doing from that area.

Centrally he's got an ability to draw players in, go past them and then play the ball into space for others. If you watch him at Villa, because of their counter attacking nature, he's always profiting off movement ahead of him and going past people. I'm sure we'd see his numbers rocket if he was more central and able to play off those around him and attack from that area.

I think Pep's concern will be that, like Foden, he generally wants to make things happen as soon as there is space whereas Gundogan and Bernardo are seen as more patient. But I think it's worth that move, because he's more capable of getting into defensive positions than the other two as well.

I don’t. You are falling back into the goals and assists debate when judging Grealish. He was brought into replace Bernardo. How many goals has Bernie scored over the last 5/6 seasons? Not many I would wager. The player has never been a consistent goal scorer. Should he chip in more? Sure, but he is still performing to a high level and doing what the manager wants. Driving at teams, holding position and retaining the ball through transitions.

The goals scored and created argument is weak and a stick to beat him with.

"'pre' assist"

Stop it, your better than that, Grealish does not need that pew assist bullshit to justify his place.
