When things are going well he can contribute but when things are going bad as they are for us this season he fails to inspire and deliver , not a player for the trenches when needing to dig deep.
With all due respect we still didn’t really see it, even when battering teams & winning every week his goal scoring/assist output was still so lacking for what a £100m forward (or any forward) in our team should be getting

Have you not noticed that Pep's teams are full of players who don't seem to be allowed to 'play for themselves', due to a very rigid system?

Grealish is no different to Alvarez, Jesus, Cole Palmer etc... shoehorned into a system that limited their ability to play natural game.
How is Jack not allowed to play his natural game.
On his day he is a great player with great skills who was a success in our treble season.
Pep gave him a platform to use his skills which he did to great effect one season.
A season and a half later playing the same position his form has dipped dramatically, nothing to do with Pep is Jack's form.

I couldn't agree more, I feel like we did not realise how good we had it when Sterling was bagging an average of 22 a season. Missed some chances? Sure, but I still think he was exceptionally good for about half a decade for us. He'll always remain one of my favourite ever City players.

I have always suspected that part of Raheem's reason for leaving was that Jack became kind of an automatic pick on the wing even though he was (and even his staunchest defenders will admit this) absolutely terrible in his first year. If I was a winger with a proven track record, sitting on the bench watching the £100m man start his 10th game in a row despite not scoring in any of them, I would also be asking to get sold ASAP.
Sterling had a big fallout with Pep at some point after the away derby in 20/21 season and he was looking for a way out that summer. He pushed for a free loan out at Barca but City refused because of Barca did not want to pay anything (always). These were reported by trusted reporters backed by City side and by Pep's own Spanish reporter.

Actually I always suspect City spent 100M because they thought Sterling was indeed leaving. Panic

You cannot blame City bought a replacement and gave him game time when they knew Sterling was wanting his way out. Actually much better plan than we handled Walker and Gundo situation.

Pep's "platform"...
Stay out wide on the left, provide an outlet, when you get the ball, retain and recycle...

Did you ever actually watch Jack playing for Villa?

What has playing for Villa got to do with anything.
I watched Jack have a great season at City in the same position he is playing now.
Nowhere near that form now. That is all that matters.

He's a number 8. That's his natural position where he's at his best.

If you think he's had a "great" season since he arrived at City, I think your expectations are far too low. He's had a handful of very good games, but other than that, his skills have been largely wasted, hugging the left touchline waiting to retain and recycle... ad infinitum.

Give him a decent run in the De Bruyne role and you'll see the real Jack Grealish.

For City he is at his best wide left.
Deal with it.

Would love to hear Pep’s thought process after the Forest game where he played really well inside

this thing that he is great at getting freekick and drawing fouls. can you name me another 3 players that are great at this from great teams last 5 years like in PL general. who also has pretty low end product but this great "skill" is also there.

if he is so great at it, why he almost NEVER does it inside a box? drawing a foul inside the box 3 times a game getting us 3 pens on average? why he only can do it far away from the box close to touchline with his back to the goal...

having said that only time drawing a foul can be useful for us if we are in the lead. if we arent or we are behind last thing I want is a freekick with our butt shit delivery resulting in a counter against our defence more often than a proper shot/header from us.

Don't forget Mahrez who was called ffs, he's scored more goals in one season than Grealish has in his entire City career.
Riyad Mahrez was five times the player of almost any other winger we have had since 2018. I'm pleased for him that he's presumably earning a shitload at his new club but actually, keeping hold of him would have been far wiser. Even really exciting youngsters a la Savio and Doku can't really hold a candle to what he achieved.

Personally I believe that Jack is so exceptional at winning free kicks because he literally does not consider attempting anything else. Any player could become brilliant at winning fouls if it was the one and only thing they ever tried to do.

Drinking right before day of game that’s unacceptable for a professional player

Painful to acknowledge, but that’s where we are.

If Pep isn’t going to see if we can make a City left midfielder out of him, I’m not sure where he stands at the club.

He doesn’t score, doesn’t cross particularly well, doesn’t exhibit any speed in attack, and even when he does shoot it always seems to be that half powered curler to the far post that doesn’t curl enough or a damp squib from the edge of the box.

Neither this nor that and, to be kinda punny, is a Jack of all trades but Master of none.

I honestly think his lack of athleticism and injury record is linked to his drinking off the pitch. Can get away with it in your early 20s but it catches up with you.

The last straw should have been when he was dropped from fulham squad last season in the midst of the title run in due to his training efforts. Guess no one would touch him nor would he want to lose his 300k a week

One of his best 45 minutes in our shirt but also the perfect example why he has to go.

Superb technique, great ball control and retention but zero goal or creation threat.

For a players with such superb technic, his final pass or shot is pathetic, he telegraphs everything and to top defenders/goalkeepers he makes things so easy.

Time to move him on and the only delay in that will be he may survive because too many changes may not be healthy.

I’m not sure you will, I think that ship has sailed too for Steve Daley Mk2.

The only thing I don’t understand is opposing defenders get away with 3,4 maybe 5 fouls without being carded, yet if he makes one (in retaliation) the yellow is brandished instantly.
