If Grealish is fit to play and isn’t being picked, then he’s right to go to England.
If Grealish isn’t fit enough to train, he won’t play for England, he’ll just get some training, keep up with the squad, probably meet Tuchel, then withdraw and be back at city midweek (this happens to 3/4 players every squad)
If he’s fit enough to train but not play 90, he won’t come back less fit from a training camp with England and might even get a sub appearance or two to speed up his return to City.
If he gets injured in England training, shit happens, plenty of players get injured in City training too, it’s a risk every time a player gets out of bed.
If his attitude is the problem, then a break from City and being in a different environment is unlikely to hurt and might be the change of scenery that gets him back on track.
I get that people are a bit on edge because of the results and Grealish is never the most popular player in the squad with fans, but I feel like Pep’s making a mountain out of a molehill here. Maybe because he’s pissed off with the squad, maybe he just wants a distraction from the results, but turning an issue that happens to every club multiple times a year into a flashpoint is unlike him.
Personally I suspect it’s more to do with Stones than Grealish and setting new ground rules with the new England management. Kick up a fuss with the caretaker, make sure the FA know he’s not happy with the treatment of players when on international duty, and then by March a new coach is in that isn’t involved in the row.
