It was a very subdued celebration. He did do the kneeslide but he just kind of jogged and it was all in slow motion.

It wasn't the big release of emotion you might expect from someone scoring their first goal in a year. I put it down to it just being so long hes more relieved the dry spell was over than excited.
Lack of practice of knee sliding i would say.

But yeah Grealish looked not his best self. He became quite frustrated waving at the back when the backline decided not to pass to his direction. When he got the ball he did not look like confident.

Anyway I think that it will be the best for him to change the scenery and get some real chances in the midfield at other club. Clearly Pep does not fancy to play him in the midfield and the player wants to. Looking back his performance vs Forests it was the best midfield performance we have seen this season vs half decent teams. And the midfield vs Juve (Grealish +Gundo) was miles better than what we witnessed last night vs PSG. At least the midfield was not completely overrun by Juve and they had to pass long to get around of our midfield until he was moved to the left wing. His position holding was solid and created a decent chance which was much better than the performance of 8s we saw last night. And Juve ranked higher than PSG now.

Looking at the squad I can see maybe 9 players that could go, and Jack is on there bu in 9th place, so think we’d try and hang on to him and limmit those leaving.

Subdued celebration seems like he knew he scored too early for it to actually mean anything considering how our defense has capitulated in the second half of most games all season.

If Pep is going to insist on playing him as a left winger, then give him overlap options instead of having someone clogging up the channel when he has the ball wide. The more sane thing though would be giving Bernardo a rest for a good month and playing Jack as an 8.

I didn't think Grealish played particularly well last night but no one did. It's scoffed at on here but he didn't win enough free kicks for me. I think this was needed to break up PSG's rhythm and momentum esp. with it being away.

I thought he was clearly being told to hug the touchline which I thought was a bit strange when we were being overrun in midfield. Presumably it was for breakaways but there weren't any. Seemed to make the pitch very wide. Thought if Grealish had come inside, more opportunities to win free kicks and would make it more congested so PSG at least had to go down the sides rather than through the middle.

No one held onto the ball and I checked on the BBC as curious and PSG had 561 accurate passes compared to City's 293 which must be one of the lowest ratios in the Pep era. BTW, thought PSG were excellent, crisp passing, movement and pressing so fuck knows why they only had 7 points going into the game.

Is it a massive cock up by Pep not playing jack in midfield?
Considering the condition Bernardo is in and how much Pep forces him into the lineup, I'd say so. Jack has the work rate in the midfield that no one besides maybe de Bruyne can match at this moment. We're getting absolutely run through every game yet Pep continues to play midfielders who are gassed to shit for control which we have hardly had all season.

Worked hard off the ball, got a goal and as people have said there wasn't the expected release of emotion. Not sure what to make of that. Could be nothing. Could mean he knows one goal isn't enough to release the pressure...who knows!

Didn't get used enough when under pressure. Really needed him in the middle of the park, shielding the ball, winning free kicks and being a more composed presence. Pep doesn't fancy him there, but I'm not sure why. I know he wants creativity from his midfielders but it's back to basics this season. We need balance and we need composure firstly.

Pep doesn’t like Jack in the middle of the park because his game is holding onto the ball and slowing the game down. That’s not what the middle of the park is for!!!

One and two touch passing and getting the balls from left to right, right to left, to move the opposition around to create overloads is a COMPLETELY different job from picking up the ball wide, killing time, bringing it inside to drop it off, and recycling it either back outside or to the other side.

Jack isn’t a Pep midfielder, unfortunately, and he doesn’t have any outstanding attributes that might even convince Pep to shoehorn him in there.

The middle of the park seems to be about getting overrun and losing the ball so I'd take keeping it for a bit longer.

I dont know what the plan for him is next season.

But in this triple deep CM system we used against Chelsea, where we prioritize control... I feel he could do the business there.

At the very least to give the other CMs some rest.

I really think there’s a future for him to play as an 8 next season depending on who’s still here (assuming Jack is which I pray for). A midfield of him/Bernardo and KdB/Foden in front of Rodri would be beautiful to see.

The thing is if he’s not getting played there this season you’d have to think he’s got no chance next when we’ll inevitably sign some midfielders and Rodri will be back.

The fact is he is getting paid way too much every week to come on for an hour every third game, we need to sell him for what we can get.

Amazing that Marmoush came in to his first game with us and looked so smart, classy and pacey, looked completely at home after one game, Grealish has rarely looked like that and the longer he has stayed the less he contributes.

Time to cut our losses and if we do sign a DM and Cambiasso I could see him leaving on a loan before the end of the window, Spurs are desperate for players.

Spurs can fuck off. The cheeky cunts will want Grealish for free. "I wouldn't sell them a virus" - as baconface once said.

If we want to move Grealish on we are not in a good position to do that, huge wage/fee, I think we would be happy to cut our losses and move him on and to be fair the player needs a fresh start, London and Spursey may well suit him.
