10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

His fan boy apologists are getting quieter after every game, perhaps they are starting to see what many of us have been seeing and saying for months. Not sure he's the biggest flop since the takeover but he's certainly the most expensive.

I think it's fair to say signing Grealish hasn't worked out.

I don’t like criticising our players but Grealish is one of the most one dimensional players we’ve ever had as a midfielder, he has made the odd assist when we require a goal but they are few and far between and as others have pointed out his goal to game ratio is poor.

I don't remember him even being particularly exceptional at Villa.

From what I recall, he was just good for a Villa player.
He had 15 goals and 17 assists in 96 PL apps for Villa. I'm more surprised people are actually shocked with his output for us.

Folks overblew his ability before he even signed. Some here were practically begging for the club to sign him, never understood the obsession then.

Actually came close last night when he struck Foden with his volley, would have had a headed chance from Bernardo but for a great intervention, and then hit the frame when his effort was deflected. Given his lack of game time I was actually rather encouraged, though he should have killed the game at the death.
So he was not close at all.lol.

Think the main problem with Jack since the treble is staying fit enough to reach top form. Seems to be another along with Stones, Doku, Ake and also now sadly Kev who just cannot be relied upon in any capacity. Maybe this is the years of being kicked from pillar to post and cutting corners off the pitch coming home to roost.

fit or not he has never been good enough for City, he runs sideways rather than forward, takes too much time on the ball, and slows the game down . He was never a 100 million player. Due to our bad signings on the wings and midfield, we are too reliant on 2-3 (Haaland, KDB, Foden)individuals to score goals. Rest of our team lacks natural goal scorers

inn his first two seasons lot were made about his end product in the media and even he appeared in interview to acknowledge this about him scoring and assisting more and was said to be working on it.
now in the last 12/18 months feels like he gave up on that.

we just cannot afford him if we dont have another 6/7 players scoring regularly. when Mahrez, Haaland, Foden, Gundo, Alvarez, KDB, Rodri all scored decent amount in their own range we could afford Grealish's low end product numbers in return helping keep possession and put a shift in on the wing.

right now we would need someone on the wing in the Salah, Saka type putting in serious G+A every game or every second game. Grealish lets be honest may score a goal in December and then next time in April and may assist one in January and next one in May. would close the PL season with 2 goals and 3 assists with that. I could get any shit winger shit out that output from the bottom 5 clubs of PL too to be fair.
