10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

When things are going well he can contribute but when things are going bad as they are for us this season he fails to inspire and deliver , not a player for the trenches when needing to dig deep.

The way I remember it, Palmer was abysmally bad for almost all of his last year with us. He only started looking like he was anywhere near good enough in the few weeks before he left. I remember him being embarrassingly far below the required level for all of his last full season.

I will grant you Alvarez and Jesus but I don't blame the board whatsoever for selling Palmer, I thought he was absolutely shocking.
I don’t blame them either. My point was palmer (who was never great for city) still scored big goals against arsenal in community shield, Sevilla in super cup, scored a great goal in fa cup at Swindon. So he impacted games and he carried a goal threat. Grealish rarely does

We miss raz more than gabby , he did drive some people mad but 130 goals speak for itself

I couldn't agree more, I feel like we did not realise how good we had it when Sterling was bagging an average of 22 a season. Missed some chances? Sure, but I still think he was exceptionally good for about half a decade for us. He'll always remain one of my favourite ever City players.

I have always suspected that part of Raheem's reason for leaving was that Jack became kind of an automatic pick on the wing even though he was (and even his staunchest defenders will admit this) absolutely terrible in his first year. If I was a winger with a proven track record, sitting on the bench watching the £100m man start his 10th game in a row despite not scoring in any of them, I would also be asking to get sold ASAP.

I don't disagree on that point at all; I have massive issues with Jack as a person and as a player and he should be doing far more for us.

Point taken, forgot he scored that many goals here. And Grealish has, unfortunately, been a flop imo.
Don’t mean it to be a know it all but it’s hard to forget just how productive our wingers where.

Two more examples:

Sterling played 339 games scored 131 times and assisted 73.

Mahrez played 236 and scored 78 assisted 56 times. And my personal favourite mahrez stat he never missed a game through injury!

But of course pep asks his wingers not to shoot and instead keep the ball.

Jesus played 236 games for city scored 95 and got 45 assists.

Grealish has played 142 games and scored 14 and assisted 19 times.

When you put it like that there really is no other way around it; that record is absolutely horrible.

And I've said before and will maintain that I have more of an issue with the way we treat Jack than I do with Jack himself. Why is he a golden boy when Sterling was given dogs' abuse? Why is he considered a great player when Jesus Navas (who got more goals and assists for us, by the way) is considered shit? There is something about Grealish's treatment among City fans that I just find so so unfair and uneasy.

Don't forget Mahrez who was called ffs, he's scored more goals in one season than Grealish has in his entire City career.
