Jack Grealish. We ruined him. And he still helped us win a treble. Let him go. He's hamstrung here. Honestly not playing him at the number 8 and playing Gundo this year cost us at least 9 points. Pep fucks up like the rest of us.

I’m going to say he can still turn it around, but I believe to do so, Pep has to give him more of a go in the middle starting tomorrow. I reckon his day on the wing is almost done one way or another.

I’m also chucking the new baby out there as a possible reason his head seems not quite in it, mostly because once upon a time I had new babies and they were a distraction…..they still fucking are, but at least I get kip these days… ;)

Remember one of our true legend's David Silva?

His wife gave birth to a very premature son, who was in a very serious condition, David Silva was not training and was either at the babys bedside in Spain or on an aeroplane back to Manchester. His performances in that period were magnificent.

Grealish seems to have self confidence issues, never a question he doesn't not possess superb talent but the time for the ridiculous number of excuses went a very long time ago.

If the club can get him off the wage bill and get back a moderate fee this summer we will do just that.

There are far better options at the club now, Silvinho is starting to find his place at the club and finding genuine form, Bobb is on his way back to fitness and Marmoush looks like he is set to arrive, Grealish is done with us, but he can try and get fit and into some sort of form before the seasons ends and make a good impression in the shop window.

Reading some of the comments actually made me sign up to join.

Some people downplaying his impact on the greatest season in our history?
Ever present in that run in, trusted in some huge games. Put us ahead at Old Trafford, put us ahead at the Emirates, scored, assisted and got man of the match against Liverpool. His assist against them was off the back of being the last man back and defending Salah who had the chance to put Liverpool 2 nil up. Moments later he is assisting the equaliser. We was terrible at Chelsea, him and Mahrez came on and within a few minutes he puts the ball on a plate for Mahrez to score the winner.

He created the most chances in the champions league that season. Yes people will always look at numbers but he was great without a huge goal contribution. Bayern at home, 1 nil up. He presses and wins the ball back high up the pitch, backheels Haaland through who then assists Bernardo to give us a much needed second goal. That game doesn't go down as a goal contribution but an example of his play that was so important to us 22/23.

He hasn't had the impact since, not being available so much through injury, and then when selected not overly producing isn't sustainable. He either needs to stay fit and find some form or he will be off. He hasn't set the world alight, if you don't think he was important within that treble season then you don't quite get football.

I know I shouldn't be putting this up but

Our best performance during this spell we're going through was against a good Forest side and guess what, Grealish played in the middle. Pep has stifled his natural ability playing him wide left but saying that he was an integral part of the side that won the treble. I am convinced he has the ability to create and score goals in his natural position but I doubt he will get the chance.

With the wind chill it can get down to -30. Cold enough to freeze the air in your lungs.
Break times are spent warming up in truck.
We're going ice fishing next weekend. Better warm up my beer glove.
You Canooks are a tough bunch, us softarse Aussies are shivering and complaining when it gets down to +18C
;)

The excuses people come out with in support of Grealish are utterly bizarre.

He has to be the most divisive signing since Rodney Marsh.
Do you level that same hate at Stones? He somehow has cult hero status, yet treble season aside his form is always up and down and he is our most unreliable player injury wise. I can't see any wild defence of Grealish on here.I imagine many accept that he needs to pull his socks up - no pun intended or he will be off fora number of reasons.

(Emphasis added in your words above to show you the key phrase)

If you cannot see that as the squad has dramatically aged, sometimes as a result of progressive injuries and workload, and as the tactics have received more study and scrutiny, we have found it increasingly more difficult to penetrate the opposition, while they have found it increasingly easier for them to absorb the pressure and break on us, then we are unable to have a discussion, because we are watching different football…or at least seeing different things from the game.

As time has marched on, we have been increasingly fortunate to not only scrape victories, but also have to rely on others tripping themselves over, to win the League. It has happened that way REPEATEDLY, and it has only been a fantastic run in of games that has salvaged the season and the titles.

2012 was a prime example, with United dropping points, not the least of which were the 2 they dropped against Everton at home in a 4-4 draw. The difference that season was literally the 6-1 at their place! That 10 GD swing and the “six-pointer” nature of the game won the League, even though it required Vinny’s header and the craziness of injury time against QPR!

Then, Liverpool…Steve Gerrard slipped on his arse and they gave away 3 goals, after being up 3-0, at Palace to hand us the advantage.

And so on and so forth!

We DOMINATED once, as did Liverpool in the COVID season, but the others were all down to the other team blinking and us managing not to lose any more points than they did in the run in.

That is clearly not happening this season, and we look to be nowhere near it, as Liverpool continue to pull away. They are where we were about 2 years ago…players in the prime of their careers, with all systems firing and the squad feeling interchangeable without losing a step. We are two years away from that with this squad, and it was not fixed on the fly, so it’s going to be painful trying to play catch up by bringing in new talent to return us to the top.

All I’m saying is that there has been an increase in the ability to nullify our possession AS our possession-based game has become increasingly stale and our defence has become more porous.

Yes, of course injuries have exacerbated that, but that would be just a result here and a result there, not this relative freefall, such that we would be BOTTOM OF THE LEAGUE if it started two months ago!

The two things have combined to make us a soft touch…even when we do have 60+% possession. Therein lies the problem…or one of them, at least!

If we are light on personnel, then let’s address that by tightening up and making us harder to beat, not play a bunch of patched old players, who can no longer press or perform as they have, in the exact same system…which had already been sussed and overcome repeatedly, often by teams nowhere near our supposed standard!

As this is the Jack Grealish thread, I’ll simply state that while he does often retain possession, when needed, he’s not bringing anything else to the party at a time when we need goals and assists for others to score. He’s never been that good at either thing and when thinking of him as a £100M player (even though not his fault), it only adds to the lack of good stewardship in recycling and renewing the squad over the last few years.

And, in furtherance of the @Metal Biker and @dhruvblue discussion above, he is neither to blame for what ails us, nor the savior for what ails us, but he is indicative of what ails us! High priced talent that isn’t making a difference to results!!!

“Difference makers” are what big teams pay big money for. KDB, Haaland, Salah, Son, Rodri, Rice, Ødegaard, Fernandez and even Fernandes…these are players that were bought and spent big money wages on BECAUSE they are difference makers and they change every team they are in for the better by having impact on results.

Jack is many things, but he’s not THAT!
No team wins the league because others have lost it. Every single time we’ve won the league we’ve been the best in the division over 38 games. The final table never lies.

Hate?

I don't hate any player but I also understand time does not stand still, what Grealish achieved in the treble season like Stones was superb, but both have fallen off a cliff in terms of form and fitness since then.

We are an elite club, we can't have passenger players living off what they did and not what they are doing now.

Ederson is a player I love to watch, brilliant keeper and character, but again this season his head is not in it, sadly another that will be moved on.

Not much below freezing usually in the winter apart from a few cold snaps. I only lasted a few months though and returned to being a trainee reporter for the local paper at £7 pw (as opposed to £40 at the steelworks)
I did 16 years as a mobile telecoms Rigger working up to 1000ft in all weathers. It toughened me up and left me fucked up.

If he leaves he will go with my gratitude and best wishes for his contribution to MCFC winning 3 Premier Leagues, 1 Champions League, 1 FA Cup, 1 UEFA Super Cup and 1 FIFA Club World Cup in his first 3 seasons (and hopefully that will be added to this year)
Why have you posted a dozen times all the trophies ?
