10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

Quiet today but don't think he was that bad. Marmoush and Foden definitely did more than him with their minutes today though. I will defend Cherki in that our movement off the ball was non existent today when he was on the pitch.

Hasn't had a good game since Arsenal. Foden to take his starting place midweek and he can be an impact sub. Perhaps coming on fresh against tired legs could give him more of an edge and if we need to keep going for goals every game, it might make a difference.

Needs to learn to play at the same pace as everybody else. Slowing it down every single time and taking too many touches destroyed our flow. We were a much better side when he went off today.

Taking Semenyo out for Southampton seems to have reinvigorated him, so leaving Cherki out against Palace may do the same. Might seem a huge risk, but if he comes back stronger, then one worth taking.

I don’t think he’s it. He has his moments but when Yaya, David Silva, KDB etc landed they were clearly *it* I’m not sure he’s the man

I’m not so sure about that as he was largely poor in the last 2 games. Did brilliantly for the 2nd goal. However the game opened up after the first so it’s difficult t judge the subs compared to when Cheriwas in. Must say it was great to see Foden showing some great touches again today tho

Don’t quite get the sudden pile on for Cherki?

11 assists (a new record) 4 goals in his debut season at 22 years old.

He’s set his own standards, appreciate the level and leave him alone.
Not been the same recently though mate, looking lethargic and slow - we have strength in depth, it’s time to use it. Foden has looked sharp and lively in his last two cameos and deserves a start on Wednesday.

I think its because he appears to be trying to do too much flair and nothing has resulted in much. I love him, but I would give him some bench time. Interesting that Pep said 1st half we did not have enough players near Erl and when Phil came on we did. I think that’s a slight dig at Cherki - dropping to deep and not doing what Pep wants

Bit of a dip from possibly the outstanding PL buy of the season.
Subbed at the right time, probably, and a great cameo followed from Phil.
If we can get both firing at the same time, heavens!

For me Cherki is technically more gifted than David, but at times he is more focused on himself, how to do something impressive rather than help the team.

That's the main thing that has bothered Pep and it has been visible since that goal vs Arsenal. David and KdB and Bernardo and Gundo, etc., were team first players (i.e. putting the team first). Cherki was good vs Burnley but tried to walk with the ball in the net and has lost (the right kind of) focus since then.

I think Cherki is close to where KdB or David were at 23 (maybe even better in *some* respects) . The main challenge is a mental one: to avoid being a me first player and put a proper shift for the team.

I thought that too. Pep has said a few times openly that Cherki drops too deep but he obviously isn’t listening. Yet.

Tough one because he can create from deep (Leeds away goal) but I’d still prefer him close to the box.

dare say with cherki its fitness issue like others in team how many have not only played but travelled as much at other clubs it's up to them now if got desire to reach top

Foden will start vs palace. If we need a goal I’d always want him on the pitch because he tries to force it too happen, obviously sometimes too much. Still on his way to the top if the attitude stays right.
