10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

Well lads, if we don't play Cherki its going to be much of the same last season as I can't see anyone else as that consistent creative outlet.

He does have that KDB quality about him in being able to create something out of nothing. Also seems to be building up a good connection with Foden.

He is class but pep is never going to play him, no idea why we bought him he is an anti pep player....he will become that player we cry out for game after game that pep doesnt start and gives 5 mins to at the end just watch
Not so sure that’s the case with Pep

Yeah it's definitely not, it's up to Cherki.

KDB always had license to try the killer ball at risk of giving it away. Doku has license to attack a full-back at risk of giving it away. The idea that Pep doesn't like creative risk taking players is rubbish.

What Cherki has to do is make sure that the risk he takes actually has a reward. If he's making the right decisions then he'll be in the team, front and centre. The main guy.

If he doesn't, he'll become a bit part, impact player.

Can see it already, he's going to get a colossal fuck tonne of stick on here. Gives it away cheaply, a lot, and when that costs us goals, the people that love to lay into players are going to feast.

We have an absolute gem on our hands in Cherki. If Pep plays the likes of Gundo and Bernardo ahead of him he should be prosecuted in a court of law...maybe that's a bit extreme haha!.
And his work rate was very good.

The assist was outrageous and that tackle back in/near (didn’t see a replay) our own box was brilliant to see, but for me the thing I was most impressed with was his constant showing for the ball

Every time one of our central defenders was labouring on the ball he dropped right next to him and just demanded the ball. I love that accountability and determination to make something happen

He turned the ball over at least three times in less then ideal positions last night after coming on, at least one of those lead to a counter opportunity.
If Pep is going to persist with the high line, which obviously seems like the case...then I will be very intersted to see how much Pep trusts Cherki over the course of next season.

Hopefully when Rodri gets back to his best it won't be as much of an issue, but since almost every counter attacking opportunity we give up nowadays feels like a goal, Cherki will either need to calm it down a little bit to Peps liking or likely find himself on the bench more often then not.

He at least looked to be working hard to win the ball back after he or someone else lost it. If he can keep that going that would calm my only concern about him. He’s the only one besides Foden who sees a pass and actually has the quality to deliver it unlike our wide players.

No doubt he is a high risk high reward player but following what we have seen at this tournament, I am really excited about watching him this coming season.
That pass to Foden was a thing of beauty and his determination to make something happen seemed to be a level above most of the others.

One of our positives but got to allow him time to fully adapt. The CWC was equivalent to one our of jaunts to the USA in pre season.

Pep put up with De Bruyne doing exactly what you’ve described. If the upside is worth it you just have to accept the downside

Exactly

People just remember the KDB highlights, and there's plenty of them.

The reality is plenty of his passes didn't come off too and he could lose possession. It's just the nature of playing that way. But when it comes off, which was plenty for Kev, it often leads to goals.

If we're not prepared to take risks, then it'll just be more sideways football and there's no point in signing creative players.

Pep gets too much flack for not trusting players but it's a myth. He's often encouraged some players to express themselves. Doku would no nowhere near the team if Pep was what people say.

Cherki played a fantastic ball for Foden to equalise, if you start to restrict him he stops attempting those things. He can improve of course, but you want to encourage him to be brave on the ball. We've got plenty of players who take the easy option.

Yeah, decent first touch by Marmoush and he probably wins us the game. With 2 brilliant assists. Difficult to be a very creative player without losing the ball at times

Be waiting a while to assist Marmoush if it requires a decent first touch .
