10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

Who do you start with then? Tejani has been even worse, and there are no other options
That is indeed the question. I actually think Stone might have been better alongside Gonzalez, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Long advocated that we need to return to the market in December, but I doubt we will.

Still new to the league. Long-term it's him or Foden at 10, pairing them both in physical games or vs good teams away from home makes us a bit soft in the middle and open to counters.

At the moment he shouldn’t be starting games like today. He should have been dragged for Reinders at half time

I thought despite his average performance, he was still our most creative outlet today.

It showed when Pep brought him off and we turned back into a crab football team again passing it side to side.

Nobody in our team can thread the ball through the lines like he can. That's why we have to persist with the inconsistancies and play him every game.

We don't have the luxury of prime KDB or David Silva anymore.

The problem with Reijnders and the reason why Pep doesn't play him as much in my opinion is he is bottom of the league I think for duels won.

Probably the worst player to play in a game like today.

Agree, all threat was lost once he went off. A one legged cherki prob still our most creative player, no point in taking him off when chasing a game..

Needs to get used to the speed and physicality of the league before being started in big away games like that.

100%. I was worried about him starting for that reason.
He’s a home CL player and given our PL fixtures between now and new year he should be playing and getting up to speed in those

In the 1st half alone, Doku created more than Cherki and Foden combined in the whole game.

I'd try Marmoush instead one of Cherki/Foden and play the other at 10.

Looks a lazy player so far. Doesn't seem to have a lot of fight in him. Needs a long run in the side but will he get it, I'm not so sure

Adjusting to this level. Obviously has all the talent in the world but can he channel it at elite level ? It's a wait and see I guess.
Just goes to show what a superb signing Mahrez really was.

It wasn't good, but one thing is for sure: after he and Doku went off, it was a complete void. The game was over as soon as they were substituted. Newcastle were so happy to see us making a thousand passes from left to right and right to left without creating any imbalance or eliminating any defenders, neither with dribbling (Doku) nor passing (Cherki). All creativity vanished.

The first lesson to be learned right now is that if we're in a situation where we need to score a goal, he and Doku have to be on the pitch, and of course Haaland, that goes without saying.
