10th Anniversary. What were you doing when you found out?

Was in work when someone (might have been a rag) told me we had been taken over by the Abu Dhabi ‘united’ Group, it was like yeah fuck off is this some sort of wind up, home not long after to watch it all unfold on sky sports

On my way home from work and called into local pub to catch up with news of any transfers on deadline day when the takeover was announced.

Swiftly followed by signing of Robinho and City’s attempted hijacking of Bebatov’s move.Drank many pints that night in growing astonishment at what was happening

The deadline day had been put back to the Monday, instead of being on Sunday which was August 31st. I thought we’d had a great window with SWP back where he belonged and Vinny & Zab In as well. We’d lost Corluka and only Hughes having a paddy about players being sold behind his back meant we hung on to Stevie Ireland.

The one dark cloud was that we’d nearly gone into administration that summer and only escaped due to taking out a large loan. But all looked reasonably good that Sunday after winning at Sunderland and we were 3rd. I wasn’t expecting the following day to be too interesting for us.

To tell you the truth - I have no idea what I was doing 10 years ago.
It is an age thing........lol

Wouldn't it be good (with due thanks to the musical genius that is Nik Kershaw) if the boss marked the 10th anniversary by attending the game tomorrow.?

As it was deadline day I arranged to be working from home and my only hope of good news that day was that Corluka wouldn't be sold to Spuds.

That transfer was confirmed early and I thought we were in for a shit day but then noticed the yellow bar saying we had been taken over.

The tv volume went back on, work went out of the window and as the day unfolded Berbatov was kidnapped by GPC and we signed Robinho.

What a day and the ten years to follow !!!!!!!!
