Apologies, should have included Rennes also but yes my point was that hes been the same at both teams. So City can't be surprised by what they are seeing.

Pep can get things wrong yes, lets give it more than 75% of a season before we make a call?

He misplaced one pass you say, we better get rid then. No one ever does that do they.
Your post was clear you didn't even know he'd played for Rennes!

My opinion is based on having watched him play for Andelecht, Rennes and Belgium dozens of times as well as for City, his distribution simply isn't good enough and hasn't improved at any point in his career.

Anderlecht? We signed him from Rennes! he left Anderlecht in 2020 no wonder he doesn't look very good if he's doing the same things he was 4 years ago.

He wasn't even.good enough at Rennes imo - he struggled to get in their team at times through the same faults he has for us.

Pep is allowed to get things wrong, he's a master at getting players to improve positionally, to improve their decision making and working as part of his tactics, there's little evidence that he can improve a players natural ability to kick a ball in a straight line i'm not sure any manager can that's wholly down to the player.

Pep didn't sign him, just like he didn't sign Phillips or Nunes. They're all Txiki signings.

Some adapt to Pep's training (i.e. Rodri) and some don't. Doku still has a chance to kick on at City, but other than on his debut, he looks like another dud who's out if his class.

He's good but not as special as he's been hyped up to be. He's still young and has time on his side, but at the moment he's just another Theo Walcott imo.

Saka has scored the same in the last two seasons as Walcott managed in his first 7 seasons at Arsenal and this season is still going

Not really seeing the similarity. Walcott was a speed merchant.

Saka is a good player that scores and assists plenty.

I don't really understand what point you are making here, my point is that he has always been the same player. I could have said Rennes but as you said yourself, hes been the same since Anderlecht days so I wasn't wrong in what I said.

His performances at Anderlecht got him a move to Rennes and at Rennes he hardly switched playstyles and became David Silva did he, hes the exact same.

Congratulations, you have an opinion and so do I. What a world we live in.

Your point was not that he has always been the same player though was it you literally said "180 odd games before Pep don't count for anything" if he's always going to be the same player he's never going to be good enough for us.

The games he played for Pep do count for nothing in terms of if he can improve or not.

He has played for shite coaches and in shite teams. City clearly think he has the right raw attributes to become better which is why we bought him.

If you don't think he will ever be better then no problem.

I did not say get rid. You said that he is one of the best first touch of the team. I say it is far far from the reality.

Exactly... he's good. Just not as good as the media make him out to be.
