The problem is not when he's double marked, its when he is not marked.
Gets past several players brilliantly, gets in or near the penalty box and he loses his composure.
I just can't fathom it.
He does the hard bit that very few players can do
and then his brain seems to freeze.
His speed from standing start is incredible.
Just needs to slow down when making his final pass

He’s one of the very few wide players with any pace who can actually beat a man. Yes his final ball isn’t always as good as it should be but compared to other options last season he did quite well. Oddly seems to get more criticism than Savinho, who really did fall off a cliff.

Doku is not unproductive. See his goal involvements per 90 minutes: stats are decent.

Those who are very critical of him think they know his ceiling: roughly, as good as he is at beating defenders he is unproductive full stop. They don't think he can get much better.

The truth is, nobody knows the future. Doku might remain the same for the next 4-5 years or explode and become a world beater, one who can decide games on his own (like his assist vs. Villa).

Anyone who thinks he knows the future can share his predictions about Rodri 4-5 years ago. Did they see him being the best in the world? Did they fuck.

He's fun and frustrating all at the same time. He really needs to improve his composure and final ball/decision making, but there are signs. In October 2019 I wrote "Rodri looks excellent" so I can say this. ;)

Still don’t know why they stopped rotating during games like in the first 5 games. Especially in the opening match against Chelsea. The destroyed them especially savinho. He was on a run.

Wrong thread apologies, but does Cherki remind anyone of Eden Hazard? Just been watching some vids on YouTube, can’t wait to see him play properly.

Not got the pace of Hazard though but definitely got the skill

Im unsure if Pep will trust Doku and Savio in the pockets, perhaps they don't trust their goal scoring instincts (Savio is much worse).

I could potentially see 1 attacking fullbacks and 1 wide wingers, like Ait Nouri LB Doku RW combo.

Or Savio LW Nunes RB combo.

If he is that good, then Pep needs to get his act together and turn him into the finished article.

I sorta agree. Sometimes he just needs to make a pass right away, with his second touch. But I think Pep doesn't want him trying to try passes when hes not close to the box. The problem is when he gets there through his dribbling, the box is already packed and its impossible to pick out a teammate in 95 percent of the cases unless youre prime Ronaldinho.

Or just let him be an actual backup to Marmoush, inverted and all, and see if he can develop the goal scoring instincts.

Ait Nouri is clearly a wide LB, so I think a wide LW is unlikely to happen much for us next season.
