His potential is genuinely limitless, but it’s all dependent on him developing some end product and decision making. Without that he’s not good enough to be consistently starting for us.
Big season next year for him, more of the same and he should be moved on next summer imo

Good game. Wasteful but he did also give a few balls that should have been finished. The one to marmoush when he took ages to shoot and then nico followed it up should have been an assist.

As a centre forward in a previous life, my biggest problem is Doku’s unpredictability!

For centre forwards, timing your run is imperative and our wingers simply do not allow any timing. In addition, you have no idea, even if they do get the ball across, if you’re going to get a chip to the far post, a dink into the near post, or a drive across the 6 yd box, or a pullback towards the penalty spot!!

I’m sorry some people can’t see the chances he could create, but it’s a fair comment that based on his potential, his performances to date have left something to be desired. Always dangerous, but rarely a difference maker.

Said something very similar months ago. Whilst his unpredictability makes him very tricky to mark it also means he's a nightmare for a striker to play with because of that same unpredictability. Might be good for doing his marker but there's no tells to what he's going to do for haaland trebe proactive, it's all reactionary.


Thats also why in some people's view (not mine) haaland doesn't seem up for it because he always does the same movement when the reality is he does that because he's no clue if or when the ball is coming or where so he's giving himself as many options as possible.



Makes you question what they do in training though as this is something thats very easily coached and i find it near impossible to believe they don't. If I was pep, doku or haaland the first thing I'd be doing is doing extra drills with just those 2 where they can work out all the different scenarios. if doku does this then haaland goes here more often than not, that kind of thing.

He’s good enough to be a late sub when we need to keep opposing full backs occupied if we’re level or winning. If we’re relying on him for goals or assists we’re in trouble.

He's had 2 seasons and shown no improvement and at 23 if he does not now what his position is about get rid

I agree, but the problem is squad numbers. We can’t keep a player who is only good when coming off the bench, when we can replace him with a guy who is decent when starting.

At the end of the day I’m still watching him begging him to refine his game. Just get me a Rodrygo x Cherki. If Savio is only gonna be WC in 2-3 seasons then Doku will only come good in 2 seasons too. I’m not giving up on neither of them but I want a forward. Atleast one. Even Mbeumo would be nice to see cuz he’s so decisive. Even Bowen would make happy

If we end up getting fullbacks, midfielders and keepers (if necessary), then we can think about it. There are just too many other positions that need attention first.
