11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

Go away man, he’s been been outstanding this season
No worries, I learned that in this forum youre not supposed to go deeper into any player related topic, it will disturb the blissful status quo harmony. Just say for the popular players that they are great, and for the unpopular ones that they are shit and move on

That's true with some posters but you will take universal heat when ya try to be some type of contrarian trying way too hard to find fault with a player. Doku has been a huge component of this side winning this term. I'll go to any nuanced level you want but you're not going to find anyone who really understands the game that thinks Doku has been poor.

Lack of bench strength is a big worry this season. Pep has hardly used Marmoush, RAN, Savio, and Khushanov .
There is bound to be injuries if you keep playing the same 11

Big miss as we don't have a lot of natural width in the side. Lots of games coming up and without Marmoush and Ait-Nouri we're going to have to manage the squad as best as we can through this period. Savinho's starting to look a lot brighter but asking a lot for him to come in and deliver consistently based on what he's produced so far but these are the times where we need him and Bobb to come good.

We are good for this season. Save the money for the summer's rebuild. Perhaps a replacement for Ake.
Without Marmoush and Doku out ,we have 1 winger ,who is far away from being a good football player, so i think it isn´t good atm.

Savinho would be good for this season. If Savinho doesn't stake a claim then replace him in the summer. Marmoush isn't going to miss the rest of the season, providing he doesn't get injured.

Very bad news, very limited options for the next few weeks and not very good ones.
I'm guessing most teams are down a few for the Afcon so that probably evens itself out.
Doku is a big miss and I hope its for not too long.
Its up to Reijnders, Bobb and Savinho to come to the stage now , just like Nunes and O Reilly did when given their opportunity.
Assuming Ake can remain fit, we are probably covered in defence with Khusanov and Ake.

I know it looks contrarian but to be contrarian it has to be intentional and motivated by the majority opinion, and it this case its honestly not.

It just feels to me like Doku isn't that much different from last year, his left foot low crosses are still blocked most of the time, and his dribble stats still do not translate to the boxscore much more than before. Yet people talk as if he turned a page.

IMO last season he was slightly underrated and this season hes slightly overrated. Where he slightly improved (passing and decisions) is offset by a dip in workrate and mobility.

Im sorry that it comes off as contrarian because its not my intention. He said himself at the beginning of the season: "This season, I want to work on my stats. I want to be in the penalty area more often." He hasn't really followed through on that. There were signs in the CWC but it died off quickly.

Well, if given the opportunity tomorrow night as expected they need to come out with their hair on fire, looking to be difference makers. If they exhibit the same timid, passive crap they've been prone to thus far then they can sit and watch as we bring in reinforcements in January. The time for sloppy play, poor decision making, and lack of execution is over. This squad has the potential to do some big things. It's no place for project players to learn on the job. that's what less ambitious clubs are for...

Not true, Whenever Pep has given him license to drift inside he has been exponentially more dangerous. When he's asked to play on the touchline teams are able to double him and his ability to go either way becomes limited. When he drifts into the inside pockets he becomes an absolute menace. His ability to dribble in tight spaces is much more difficult for CBs to deal with as they are generally bigger than outside backs but less nimble and not as quick. Also, when positioned inside the box centrally he's actually a much better finisher than given credit for. Doku this season is not someone to be tolerated, but celebrated...

You didn't really disprove anything I said with this though. Have we seen any of this against Madrid? I don't think so. Yet people were praising his performance a lot. Last year for a similar performance he would get criticism "useless dribbling" "no end product" "bad decision making" etc.

Changing his position in the pitch doesn't equal him actually improving. Hes not getting at the end of passes in dangerous positions where he can score. True, hes making more of these passes to Haaland and Foden, but bar a couple of matches, these passes have been also massively inconsistent.

I always said his finishing ability is better than people give him credit for, but that the problem is he isn't getting himself in positions where he could use that finishing ability.
